i am not holding my breath in manly getting any new acquisitions of this level. Too much cap used on 3 players and we still don't have a player that can drive our team around the park.
I agree with your first comment but not your second, I do however think we’ll get a few quite good players who will better fit into our set up for the way the game is moving.

But a player of Addo Carr’s status , no chance , our cap just doesn’t allow it.

Agree zero chance. Tigers or Rabbits most likely destination and if the Rabbits can move on Roberts then his close friendship with Latrell must surely seal the deal. I would also imagine that the way the Rabbits are currently playing with such attacking football must appeal. Imagine JAC on the end of that backline. We can only dream.

Right, but how does theirs?

And why do I get the feeling the rorters are 'reviewing'their cap and will find out they have enough room for JAC too?

I know what you mean...but why?

Souths cap allows it!

It's such a frustrating competition when it is clear that certain clubs have a leg up over others when it comes to the cap...I know we've said this ad nauseam but the NRL need to look closely at how the 3rd party deals are being manipulated if they want teams outside of the Roosters, Melbourne and Souths to prosper. If it wasn't for the rule changes, Penrith wouldn't be anywhere near winning a comp so they are an anomaly.

probably more out Third Party Payments are about 5% of that of Souths, Chooks, Broncos... so we always lose in player signings.

Yeah it's complete bull****.

Until the NRL address 3rd parties, the Chooks will hold the rest of the competition to ransom every year.
Yep, and Souths are getting there along with them.

Can you believe that if Souths snare Addo-Carr, they will have a backline list that includes:
1) Latrell Mitchell
2) Alex Johnson
3) Campbell Graham
4) Dane Gagai
5) Josh Addo-Carr
6) James Roberts
7) Braiden Burns
8) Corey Allen
9) Esan Marsters

Surely they will need to shed more than just Roberts.

Hang on. Hang on. Let me see if I have this right.

JAC wants to play fullback.

So Souths, who only last year signed Latrine who was playing centre to play fullback and has made a semi-decent fist of it are his preferred option.

Meanwhile, they unearth Corey Allen who, to be honest, has done a fantastic job replacing Latrine. Imagine if Manly had him instead of Elliot filling in for Turbo ? Not a bad replacement.

So along comes the Fox saying "I want to play 1." Let me see. Where will I go ? I know. Let me sign with a club that has Latrine and Allen. I'm sure I can oust both of them given my vast experience playing fullback.

If he's fair dinkum about playing fullback, he won't go anywhere near Souths. He should go to the Tigpies. Or he should come to Manly. We all know he'd probably end up playing two thirds of the season there.

Look for Souths to run out 13 blokes next year all wearing number 1. I'm Brian. No I'm Brian. I'm Brian and so's my wife.

It's not about "playing" fullback.
It's about getting paid fullback money, (which is much better than winger money) and playing where you play.

That's true 76. But when he signs, Souths will have no intention of him playing fullback. So they're not going to shell out fullback money. He's going to get winger's money because that's where they will be intending to play him.

Who was our last top shelf outside backs signing that wasn't tainted in some way?
Innes? Devereaux was suppose to be top shelf but meh. Belly was an over achiever but still not quite top shelf.

I'd say Terry Hill but hang on that Tainted in some way clause.

I guess it says it all.

Makes the Roosters backs look like amateurs...

I think Jamie Lyon stands up here....though was signed to play as a BACK, more than a specialist centre....but damn he was the complete centre and ANY winger outside him would look like a rep player.

And that's just the outside backs. You can add Cody Walker and Adam Reynolds -- arguably the best half-five-eight in the comp this season -- plus having the dosh to throw silly money at a 16-year-old "superstar" of the future.
They must be printing money in the basement of the Souffs Juniors; you know, the spot where there are no CTV cameras to capture nefarious activities.

South's salary cap looks as elastic as the Rorters cap.
It’s an absolute joke this system , and the powers to be just turn a blind eye to it all.

Look I get that if your club is “ connected “ you can call on your business mates to sponsor player A and B and C but when we have them sponsoring right down to Z then the system itself is broken.

I don’t blame the superstars of our game wanting more money during their short playing career and I can see the value of “ XYZ Business “ sponsoring Player A who they can use in marketing their company but TPA’s need to be limited to a few marquee players in each team not players 1-26 with only players 27-30 being on development contracts as not getting a TPA.

The NRL need every team to be competitive and not just 3 or 4.

DRAFT... and I use the word advisably.
I understand that this was successfully challenged by Dennis Tutty and hasn't been attempted again. But it works in the AFL. Why?
