'ex' Barrett's Bulldogs

"History will not be rewritten, no way," she wrote.

"I sit back and watch and read people take credit for many things and it's hard to digest at times because I know who has been and continues to be instrumental in driving a lot of the change behind the scenes but I won't accept this at all.

"Is he kidding? His arrogance and ego nearly tore the place apart."

"The moment he stopped listening to experienced and smarter people than him and surrounded himself with those with no idea was the moment he was destined to fail as a rookie coach," she wrote.
You also think about his ring ins (Waddell, Gosiewski, Thompson, Kelly, Koroisou, Lane, Hastings, Green, Brown, AFB, Myles, Parcell etc (all in Barrett's tenure) , Des has pretty well washed most of them away.

And to think our attack was so ordinary one year, S Lane was our top try scorer with 9 !

Here is something for Trent to go with his garden chair

I think Manly gave Trent adequate time to show if he had something.

Admittedly he brought some good players in, but only a few of those have a place in the current squad. (Marty, Walker come to mind - who else?)

There was a noticeable increase in Pts scored against - and everyone said it was on account of Barrett's attacking style, but the Pts For didn't improve proportionally. This is potentially an issue with conditioning, hunger and fitness, and that's where Dan Ferris comes into it I guess. Thanks goodness we have Donny here again, Trent turned our boys soft.

Barrett has the chance to learn from Gould - like him or hate him, Gould is a far more wise footy brain than Trent is. However if it becomes a battle of the ego's and he has a "falling out" akin to that which he (purportedly) had with Manly legend Bob Fulton (may he RIP), then Barrett will be gone. Given Barrett wanted to be his 'own man', how will being micro-managed by Gould work out?

It's probably lose-lose for Barrett now - any success will be due to Gould's intervention, and any failure will be on the back of Trent's decisions, allowing Gould to take control of an actually impressive list of signings, and fit in a more suitable, subordinate coach to act as his voice-piece.

One thing that Trent may have going for him is Wayne Beavis (NRL/player manager).

He is good mates with Gould (although they admittedly had some bad blood over Griffin), and manages Trent.

Beavis was also purportedly involved in stirring up Trent's agitation to get out of Manly.

As Hook Griffin's manager, Gould was upset recently that Bevis didn't pour cold water on the story that Gould was advising the Dragons against signing Hook. Gould felt Beavis coulda stuck up for him more.

If Gould/Beavis have made up then Barret might have some cover for the first season - but that won't last if the results don't happen.

I doubt Barrett could have a worse year though, with Burton/Fox signings alone. I would worry more about the Cowboys/Tigers for next year for the spoon.

When I see Gus on the TV crapping on about other teams I just think what a wanker.
Look what club he now runs. Have you heard boo from him on the Bulldogs. Nope...
Yet he'll rip into top 8 teams like they are failures...

Piss off Gus.
