Des-Penn-Buzz

In all seriousness, someone could write a thesis (might do it myself) on how so many powerful ‘rugba’ league clubs go into let’s call it ‘elegant decline’ after a very influential central figure in the organisation moves elsewhere, retires, or dies.

St George: Frank Facer;
Canterbury-Bankstown: Peter Moore;
Canberra: Les and son John McIntyre;
Brisbane: Wayne Bennett; and
Manly-Warringah: Ken Arthurson.

Beware Sydney Roosters, you could be next.
In history and indeed everywhere empires come and go. The Roosters and Storm have had a golden age. Things will change again. Penrith are on the way up.

You missed a heap of things BOZO, if we want to make lists.

Arseholed Toovey due to politics
Dirty war with Delmege
Made gazillions off the LC sale (then cries poor when $ injections are needed)
Refused URM offer to buy him out
Refused other offers to buy him out
Demanded his name on the COE door
Won't entertain the idea of an NRLW team
Gifts Brisbane another home game every season

Etc, etc, etc.

And just to do myself another disservice......yes I think Scott Penn is an A grade wanker.
Here is your list

Fun Facts ...

Under Nick Polities the Roosters have disgraced them selves with a wooden spoon in 2009

The following year 2010 the Melbourne Storm also disgraced them selves with a wooden spoon

The Panthers have disgraced them selves with 4 wooden spoons and they have more wooden spoons than Premiership titles

Under Manly Greats Ken Arthurson , Max Delmege and Mr Penn The Legendary Manly Sea eagles have won Premierships and Have Never been disgraced with Wooden spoons

We should all be very proud of our Great Manly People and our Great History

WE ARE MANLY

WE ARE THE YOUNG AND THE OLD
THE BIG AND THE SMALL

I'd much rather a selfless Toovey or Delmege than a plastic Penn at our club.

He is a smart business owner, who saw an opportunity to make a hell of a lot of $$$,....unfortunately that opportunity was at the enormous expense of our club.

Gifting the Broncos a free home game is also another way to offset any cost to Penn.....and also, yet agian, at the expense of our club.

No, I'm not. Penn is a wanker.

Whether it is,or isn't just lip service to appease the NRL Penn is lining up the nails for our coffin.

Unless he had the coach and players in the rooms, taking the piss out of the NRL, THEN letting them all know he has to publicly take the opposite view to guard against further antagonising the NRL against Manly, otherwise as stated by Josh, alot of the players were filthy at the ref performance along with Des, Penns shot at Des could effect the whole teams desire to play for Manly, it's then not a question if the coach has lost the dressing room, it's a far worse scenario when the club has lost the dressing room !
You don't come back from that too easily.

Penn, what have you done !

I would like des to come out next week in the presser and just offer 1 or 2 word answers and let it run for no longer than 1 minute.

It's not like the nrl wants to hear real opinions anyway?!

He dribbles crap anyways, and never makes sense. No results on the field, and an embarrassment off it.

It is starting to look/feel that way. We have gone backwards in the space of the last 6-8 months. CEO had to quit, Blacktown busted, HM/SG ball teams NOT making finals for the first time in many years, Jersey Flegg nearly last, fitness levels appear one of the poorest in the comp, next years team = this years team minus Tapau, Walker and Foran. Des has put us on the same trajectory as he did at the Dogs. Name me one other team that loses its best player and gets flogged every week? We do not seem to have any structure in attack (just random, ad hoc throw the ball side to side) and we leak points constantly AND as many have pointed out what does Crusher actually do?

With the juniors, I think smokin joe said earlier this year that they wouldn’t be expected to dominate again. The ball/Matthew’s kids a couple of years ago were the best, and now they are spread out, and a bit between age groups. Hopefully the young champs of those years are close to graduating, and there are a bunch like Cummins, O’Donnell, latu who were playing up an age group. Pity about feledy

Good point re Feledy. We desperately need a quality centre. He may be a year off however why would we let him go. From all reports he was only second to Latu Fainu in very good HM/SG teams

Who would you try and get that could do a better job? It's not like there are top line coaches lIning up to coach us?

Barring some sort of on- or off-field catastrophe, Feledy is going to be a fantastic player. Can't remember a better centre prospect coming through our junior teams.

yes he has no idea that Hasler - none. He has always been useless - what a dinosaur he is. He was particularly useless last year when we were playing magic football but that wasn't because of anything he did - it was just luck... Injuries, bopunce of the ball etc etc all helped him - he played no part in how good we were last year albeit we had deficiencies in defence. @Ryan when are you putting in your application for an NRL head coaching job or just wondering if you have ever coached at any level at all? Held a recruitment job with a club... talent identification job..... worked in an admin role job with a club, maybe you answered the phones at a club... anything at all? Maybe you visited a club and had a meal there??? Something???

We rode off the back of a star generational player last year having a career year (let's be real here). When he's out, we struggled. Question, when we started the year WITHOUT Tom in those first 4-5 games, how did we go ?

And Des wasn't always terrible like he is these days. From say 2007-2011 he absolutely had the blueprint to succeed, so let's not take that away from him man, jeez
you're harsh.

But he's out of touch now. Games moves past him. Did you hear the commentators last week? Saying Des used to instill that dominance/pride in defense with his team's, then went on to say they didn't know what happened!! Maybe listen to them if you don't want to listen to me.

And guess what? They HAVE worked in the industry and administration. What's your response to those guys ?
