In history and indeed everywhere empires come and go. The Roosters and Storm have had a golden age. Things will change again. Penrith are on the way up.In all seriousness, someone could write a thesis (might do it myself) on how so many powerful ‘rugba’ league clubs go into let’s call it ‘elegant decline’ after a very influential central figure in the organisation moves elsewhere, retires, or dies.
St George: Frank Facer;
Canterbury-Bankstown: Peter Moore;
Canberra: Les and son John McIntyre;
Brisbane: Wayne Bennett; and
Manly-Warringah: Ken Arthurson.
Beware Sydney Roosters, you could be next.
