Albert Kelly

Is this guy an option for the club? If we had the money? To me he would be the ideal five-eight for this teams playstyle which is all about off the cuff play, offloads, speed and footwork. Imagine Albert pushing up around our forwards as they offload, he would be into space before anyone could touch him simply put Cherry or Tom over for a try, or vice versa as he is excellent in support play. Also gives the team another attacking weapon and option, he can kick well, giving us options a plenty for end of sets and also allowing Cherry to run on 5th tackle and not worry about having to be there on the last tackle. His cousin is already an Eagle. Whats everyones thoughts?

So if we have Kelly and Cherry who is going to look after game management ?? who out of these two does the basics that the halves are supposed to do ? I like Kelly, think he is a good player - but he and DCE would be a disaster in my opinion. It'd be a wild ride. Remember the Walker 5/8 experiment ?

To be fair Walker was a centre with no kicking game or idea how to play a halves role. Kelly does have a kicking game and does know how to play like a half because he is one.

I have blocked the Walker 5/8 experiment from my mind and am working on removing the Croker one as well

Seeing cliffy and beaver walking through the JT stand on Sunday afternoon while we were getting a flogging brought back good memories

In fact someone yelled out to beaver to put his boots on an get out onto the field

Dylan walker played the majority of his junior football as a 5/8.

DCE gets cut slack enough already because he doesn't have someone to hold his hand and steer the team around, kick to the corners, get repeat sets, marshall the go forward - leaving DCE to play that running game, adlib style he is good at. Albert Kelly is essentially the same style of player as DCE IMO, so I don't see how he helps our style of play

I see where you're coming from but IMO DCE has done really well to manage the side this year. His kicking game has been top notch (most of the time). Only problem is that if he's managing the game then someone else has to create chances and Croker hasn't done that yet. Tom has been doing that a lot more this year but he's not a half and can't be making those decisions every set. If Kelly were to take up that responsibility then I can see it working but it all depends on whether Cherry can keep up the high work rate that he's had this year so far.

Albert would be on some reasonable money with an almost assured top grade position in the U K , so i guess that he would want to have some good reasons for returning to the N R L if Manly do make some overtures to him . Croker apparently went quite well last week , defended well and did what was expected of him . So i guess the question is, does Baz just want some more half "s depth for Croker or is he seeking another alternative partner for D C E in the i st grade team . Albert is also quite versatile in some back line positions so this could be a factor as well if he is going to be approached by Manly .
If by well you mean “gaping holes in our defence” i agree

Best case scenario now is that we play well enough to avoid total embarrassment this season and resolve our roster and cap issues in time for a serious tilt in 2019.

We are one or two serious injuries away from not winning another game this year.

He doesn't add, but then again Walker cant control an NRL team.
Square peg round hole.

Albert Kelly is doing great at Centre. The idea to put him at 5/8 is crazy. Let’s not ruin the young kids career.

- whoops, too many beers with dinner.

Rather go after Sezer. His kicking game of late has been outstanding. And can organise a team and kick goals.

Sezer at half back and Korbin Sims from Brisbane and we are looking great. Need the appeal to go in our favour
Sezer would be ideal but I think Raiders will retain him.
