Can't stand the thought of a whole year of listening to "the 4-time Premiers" 🤦🏻‍♂️🤮

It's now Wed night and excitement is exploding like an untied party balloon. Doubt this grand final will sell out without cut price assistance or freebies.

One thing I have noticed is how much influence on his coaching that Bozo had on Ivan Cleary even if Ivan only played briefly under Bob Fulton.

You watch how Penrith play, especially in defence, and its a lot like Manly in the early to mid-90s. Ivan was part of that in 1993 when Bozo came back after Lowe got sick and couldn't do the job. When Bozo came back he set about turning Manly's defence into the brick wall it would become by 1995. Like Manly back then, Penrith are the defensive standard bearers now.

Too many teams these days, unfortunately Manly included, don't seem to put enough emphasis on defence. Its more about scoring points than stopping the opposition scoring. Penrith?? They are the only team this year who didn't let in at least 400 points over the minor round letting in only 394. Cronulla were the next best at 431.

Penrith play a solid defence, no nonsense style of football. It may have only been briefly in his playing career, but Bozo's influence is all over how Ivan Cleary has his Penrith side playing.

I'm dreaming of a Maroon and White Premiership
Just like the ones I used to know
Where the treetops glisten and children listen
To hear sleigh bells in the snow....

Our Season is well and truly over
Merry Christmas every one

I might sound salty but this grand final has got to be the most disinterested I’ve probably been ever, and it hurts to say because I love the game- I miss the days of super competitive finals from 10-15 years ago!

These games are like Origin to me, I'll watch it or else I'll get FOMO but come Monday it'll be meh. Not sure how the Tests will go with me but at the moment I'm doing a Ponga.

I hear what you are saying about the finals series - it had an air of inevitability all over it.

But the GF should be a cracking game between two awesome teams.

Well said Rocky, still blows my mind how the Storm seem to stay at the top basically since their inception - Bellamy true is the GOAT in my opinion

I do not know how people can get excited and watch a grand final when their team is not playing
Watching another team lift the winning trophy
I can not put it in words how I can not bare to watch a Grand final without Manly
It is like watching your Girlfriend being kissed by another bloke
I guess we are all different and I respect that

Big big biiiiig stretch to link Bozo with how Cleary runs things but ok, it's a nice feel good opinion to have.

The fitness levels and physical make up of Manly's squads over the years is a huge part of Manly leaking points before delving into defensive structures and philosophy making a difference.

Support the game and appreciate what other teams bring, to learn and also to watch a game in a more relaxed unbiased state.

Have you watched your girlfriend kiss another guy or clutching for an analogy to pad your post with.

Some simpletons still blame the salary cap when the salary cap had nothing to do with it then and now.
When you "get it" you create an environment that puts pressure on the cap because others wish to purchase what you have.

Melb purchase an unpolished Orford from the Nth Eagles, polished him up and then forced to sell him to a club that "didn't get it", then proceed to create a better younger "initially" cheaper version to take over then a few years later are not rewarded for their efforts in doing so.

Melb could of easily cried and sobbed "why me" but because they "get it" in terms of player development, the technical aspects of the game and physical attributes of players they have been giving the "big up you" to every other club and became even stronger as a result of the "cap scandal"

Penrith get it and can let players go and bring in new versions but you can only succeed doing this by having a greater understanding as to what is required and what works. The Dogs are trying to create this also and are well on the way with some patience. The Roosters at times make great targetted purchases and have some understanding of what is required but not to the levels of The Storm or Panthers

Manly for decades now have taken short term solutions ever since the 80's and 90's. Des tried to create and push for a deeper understanding of what is required but politics and a lack of patience and funds held him back.

On his return was a little behind the times but still showed glimpses of the old Des from the noughties and how he turned Manly around so quickly in 2021 showed he was still capable.

It is why Brisbane struggle for consistency in the NRL, but Qld dominate in Origin for periods of time. NRL success requires a deeper understanding of the complexities of the game and it's evolution, Origin is about passion and pride and short term levels of high performance.

Probably the main reason why Bellamy didn't succeed in Origin as he understands the complexities of the game and long term planning, where Origin is about team bonding, passion and comraderie. NSW the passion is with club teams not Origin, it is a manufactured passion for Origin while for Qlders it is the other way around.
