2024 GRAND FINAL

I don't believe any of you.

As much as we wish our beloved Eagles were in the big dance, I find it hard to believe any NRL fan won't watch the competition deciding match even if we're not playing.

Our coaching staff need to watch and understand the level needed to be there. Because right now, we're off the pace and I don't like it.

The Melbourne Storm have confirmed they will contest the grading of Nelson Asofa-Solomona’s high tackle charge in a bid to let him play in the 2024 Grand Final.

It comes as the Storm successfully had the NRL fast-track the judiciary from Tuesday to Monday night in a bid to not disrupt their Grand Final preparations.

“Melbourne Storm confirmed today they will contest the four-match suspension handed down to Nelson Asofa-Solomona by the NRL judiciary,” the club said in a statement.

That’s what I was thinking too because isn’t the root of loving Manly come from loving the sport of footy, and I do enjoy the no stress and no heart palpitations watching a non manly game, just get to kick my feet up and enjoy @:D

NRL 2024: Melbourne Storm star Nelson Asofa-Solomona to miss grand final after guilty verdict

Melbourne Storm Nelson Asofa-Solomona has been rubbed out of the 2024 NRL grand final against Penrith after failing to have his grade three charge downgraded at the NRL judiciary.

The Storm have suffered a monumental blow with man mountain Nelson Asofa-Solomona to miss Sunday’s grand final showdown with Penrith after he failed in his bid to have a grade three careless high tackle reduced at the judiciary.
The guilty verdict means the towering prop will miss five matches, with seven-game rookie Lazarus Vaalepu the man most likely to come in for the biggest night of his career against the Panthers.
It’s a massive loss for the Storm given Asofa-Solomona generates quick play the balls and can offload at will, with Melbourne all too familiar with the judiciary this time of year after Billy Slater got off in 2018, while Cameron Smith missed the 2008 decider.

Each to their own, obviously, and it probably makes it easier living 'over here' but I think I've watched 1 non Manly game over the last few years, not including the roosters v broncos game in LV (which I just had to look up as I forgot who the other teams were that night).

So... hopefully for all those watching, it's a great game but I'll just watch the highlights.

Not good, not bad, just 'is'.

I try to watch every game of the round all season, don’t even miss a finals game if my team isn’t in it. Doesn’t need to be the Dogs playing to enjoy it as you can appreciate the talents and plays of opposition and as you said gauge what is missing in one’s team. Rugby League is the biggest winner in my opinion can’t get enough !

That's a hell of a lot of hours every week!
Footy is fine but maybe some benefits to diversifying your interests? 🙂

I was like that for over 40 years, and travelled to England for the WCC etc etc, but after the 2013 GF I stopped watching all games live. I now only watch Manly games on replay and ONLY if we win. My love affair with Rugby League died that day on 6 October 2013. I played the game for 17 years, including state reps and what is called Rugby League today bears little resemblance to what I remember. Crowds are up and ratings are up, so I guess I am the dinosaur and no longer their target market.

The NRL want Melbourne to win. They always wanted 1st V 2nd, and they wanted the great Penrith to be dethroned in a GF. It's all so contrived now. How many times did it happen to us and others that we/they get out to a handy lead and then 6 again after 6 again and penalties etc to get the other team back into it. its complete horse s**t.

I may watch the GF replay if Penrith win, but I have not watched a single game involving the filthy purple scum since 2009 and I will find it hard to do so even if they lose.

I could careless about the grand final since I will be in Katoomba on Sunday enjoying the day. I don't want Panthers to win another premiership but also don't want Storm to win so it's tough to choose who will win.

Having NAS out of the Storm forwards is a massive blow to them, no other Storm forward gives that sort of impact. Cheats will want to contain in the forwards and spin it wide as much as possible for there 2 big wingers. Grant will be working overtime in defence and this could blunt his attack some what. Penrith to run away with it midway through the 2nd half.

The last line still brings joy to my heart.

For years I've wondered if there was a word or term that describes when you're hoping both teams lose in a 2 team game.

The closest I've come so far is courtesy of AI and, I quote:

"There isn't a widely recognized single word for wanting both teams to lose in a sporting match, but a common phrase used to express this sentiment is "rooting for a meteor." This is often said humorously when someone dislikes both teams and wishes for an outcome where neither can win"

Tbh, I’d just be happy for a root. But probably have more chance in seeing a meteor!
Good to see you on here Bob. How goes the comedy gig/s?

Saw Gordon Tallis on "NRL360" trying to defend NAS and saying he deserved to play so the fans would see the best of the best. He brought up the Cam Smith suspension for the 40-nil grand final, and said it ruined the game as a "spectacle", and that nobody enjoyed watching it.

Pretty sure most Manly fans enjoyed the sh*t out of it, as well as a large percentage of the neutrals…

Always be disgusted with the Storm "s salary cap breaches around 2007- 9 or so [ or the ones that were publicly disclosed' and the appalling taking out of Snake in the 2007 G F ] but for a while now do have a grudging respect the way the Storm do so well with maintaining such a high standard of footy and transforming virtual unknowns and previously average type players[ well in most instances ] into the well performing level .
Certainly will be a great achievement if the Panthers win a 4 th title in a row and good luck to them if it happens .
Quite a few QLD players in the Storm line up so don 't mind that aspect but will miss seeing most of the match so really don 't have that much interest in general.
Just trying to recall the time the Storm's Frank Ponossi was playing in the Manly lower grades ,
Some vague recollections when i think about it

Didn 't realize that Cam Smith was worth 40 or 40 plus points in a G F .
Must have got him confused with Superman but on a serious note a bit delusional if he thinks that Cam could have made a winning difference the Storm 's way in that game
