These guys got bagged by a lot of the fans last week. Hiku going to the dogs, we should drop Buhrer etc. You know who you are. :P So what happened on Friday night? Hiku by his strength got a pass away for the first try. Buhrer made the bust on the right side that led to the second try. So I now sing their praises - well done boys. You and the rest of the team won the game for us and a big thank you from me. :D
NRL concussion laws could be exploited, says Tim Mannah
Parramatta co-captain Tim Mannah admits he is concerned the NRL's new concussion laws could be exploited by teams wanting a free interchange. Mannah is pleased the game is prioritising player welfare but says the new rules should be treated more as a trial than the final solution. The front rower was stunned for a moment and unable to get to his feet early in Sunday's clash with the Warriors, and was taken from the field for cognitive testing under the strict new guidelines. After sitting the concussion test which takes 8 to 10 minutes, the club doctor cleared Mannah to return to the field inside the 15-minute allocated period, meaning his time off the field, with Darcy Lussick on in his place, did not count for an interchange...
FORMER  Sea Eagles star fullback Graham “Wombat” Eadie has provided his blueprint for his old team to nullify South Sydney danger man Greg Inglis when the sides clash at Bluetongue Stadium tonight. Eadie was the Greg Inglis of his time — a powerhouse fullback who could cause havoc and bust opposition defences . He won four premierships with Manly. Read More
EMOTIONAL Manly players have upped the ante on club officials to keep stalwart Glenn Stewart, using last month’s season launch to personally campaign for the 30-year-old to be retained. The Daily Telegraph has learned at least two players made their feelings known to general manager David Perry during the 27 February event at Le Kiosk on Shelley Beach. Read More
While the golden point field goal won't disappear this season, the number of attempts at them will most certainly decline. The Storm beat the Sea Eagles with a one pointer in extra time on Saturday night at Brookvale Oval and didn't realise until well after the game the danger the new rules pose to these kicks. In 2014, any team which kicks the ball dead will see the opposition restart play on zero tackle at the 20 metre line. Read More
Manly warhorse Anthony Watmough claims he's never felt better at the start of the NRL season having made the difficult decision to rule himself out for last year's Rugby League World Cup. The NSW State of Origin star has been an almost ever-present member of Tim Sheens' Kangaroos side since 2009 but said he had no choice but to pull out of the tournament due to chronic knee and foot problems. King ruled out of Manly NRL opener
Manly will have to dig even deeper into their ravaged front row stocks for Saturday night's NRL season-opener against Melbourne after co-captain Jason King was ruled out with his ongoing shoulder problem. Unheralded off-season signings Josh Starling and Dunamis Lui are now battling it out to partner Brenton Lawrence up front against the Storm pack at Brookvale Oval. Former South Sydney fringe prop Starling is likely to start, with former Brisbane player Lui to come off the bench. Last year's grand finalists are also without winger Jorge Taufua, due to a shoulder problem, and fellow try-scoring flyer David Williams remains in doubt with a knee injury. Williams trained separately from the team at Narrabeen on Monday, but still...

Storm bracing for brutal Sea Eagles
CENTRE Will Chambers says Melbourne Storm is bracing itself for a brutal opening round encounter with long-time rivals Manly on Saturday night. There is no tougher assignment in Round 1 than a trip to Brookvale Oval and Chambers said Melbourne was under no illusions what laid in store for them. “It’s going to be tough – they’re a great side and battle hardened,” Chambers said. “You know what you’re going to get from Manly. “They’ll turn up and be physical and the crowd will get behind them.” The two clubs have had some epic battles over the years and Chambers said he expected no different on Saturday. “It’s like a mutual respect more than anything (between the two clubs),” he said. “It’s always physical when you go...
Sea Eagles v Storm preview
Sea Eagles v Storm Brookvale Oval Saturday 7pm A modern day rivalry spawned from a sustained period of success for both clubs, Manly v Melbourne has become a must-watch fixture in recent seasons. Other than 2010, when the Storm were docked all premiership points, Craig Bellamy's men have reached at least the semi-finals in every season since 2002. It is a similar story at the Sea Eagles who will aim for a 10th consecutive finals appearance this season. If successful they will be the only team in the past decade to compete in every finals series. Both teams come into Saturday night's clash with patchy pre-season form, having both bowed out at the group stage of the Auckland Nines competition. The Storm went winless in both their...
