Try to work what out? Why Manly won the GF? I have a theory on that and it's supported by more than irrelevant stats. You see, these stats are directly effected by what I've been talking about in my theory ie. Manly not having anywhere near as many rep players missing, getting to play sides like Brisbane, Easts, Titans, Cowboys etc. at half strength (If that) and reaping the benefits. So when you sit there and say well Manly had the best completion rate, or the most run metres, I would merely direct you to think long and hard about the above and what sort of difference you think there may have been, had Manly been missing 10 SOO players like Melbourne, or half a dozen like the Roosters...

Okay. Good on you for passing it around a lot. What does this stat have to do with anything? It doesn't support your argument.

Please elaborate on the Dessie work ethic, comment.

Obviously ball control is vital. I don't think anyone needs stats to know that.

All of these are irrelevant.

I'd be very suprised if that were true.

So comps are won by ball control and tries? Defense means nothing hey? Good call...

All you're really doing by posting stats with Manly and Melbourne coming in 1st and 2nd, is showing that Manly needed a cake walk during the hectic rep period and a trot against weakened teams, to oust the Storm statistically, and in fact, in some area's not even that sufficed.

It's typical because of the style they play. Manly like to use second phase and Melbourne like to keep it simple. Both are effective when properly implemented. But I guess offloading is the better route because ahh why?........Oh that's right because Manly do it.

It supports the idea that these two teams push the envelope and it should be a warning sign to the admins and ref's, that the working on the ground is deciding too many matches. The fact is both of these sdies are well disciplined.

Not definatively. Perhaps they elect to go for the try more than other teams.

That's rather funny when you consider the Storm have Steve Turner as part of their back 3...

Melbourne have a vastly superior kicking game. That is clear to blind Freddy.

Smith and Cronk > Ballin and Orford, and by a long way.

What a load of absolute rubbish. Scoring the most points does NOT automatically mean you have the best attack because week to week footy is not standardized. Injuries, rep committments, I mean the variables are limitless ie. Not every side plays the same competition that others do.
If you knew anything about structure, timing, direction and execution you'd see that Manly are anything but the best attacking side. And again I'll mention the fact that had Manly been missing 5-10 rep player for 3 games like Melbourne or Brisbane or the Roosters, they would not be ranked number 1. It is not a definitive stat at all.

Do some actual analysis and draw your own conclusions rather than letting numbers make up your mind on everything.

Yeah I bet it was hard travelling to Skilled Park to face the Titans without Prince and Harrison. Or to Suncorp to face the Broncos without Lockyer, Michaels, Carroll and Hodges.

Go Manly in the WCC! C'mon Aussies, get behind one of your ownÂ
Wow, you go so far in depth it's just amazing...
Yes I'm in the minority. I seem to be changing more minds though. When I post my in-depth analysis of Manly's and Melbourne's seasons, I think there'll be plenty of members reconsidering. I understand though, that it's hard for some to even conside the idea that the premiership trophy was tarnished, especially in the Centenary year. People think it's a deep seated hatred for Manly but it's actually lamenting the lost chance we had in our 100th year...
