7=DCE & 6=Cust. Lock that in.

Centre / wings should be 6'3" monsters with great hands, speed and footwork. Currently not, so someone will have to choose who to keep and who to lose. Personally I'd like a backline of Pat Richards (goals), Joseph Manu, Hodges & Vunivalu but it ain't going to happen. Choices ...

Tom injured means a replacement is required. Personally I would be chasing Isaako or Johnston hard as wingers who can fill in at fullback when required.

Then we need a gun 9. Fainu maybe, sure but not Levi yet. I think he isuzuis fine as a 14 but not the main event.

Our props, lock and first choice second rowers are great. An injury to Siro and I'm suddenly worried about our depth. Can Waddell Haumole etc step up?

A gun left winger that can cover fullback. Walker back to centre with Hoppa, Funa, Harper, Parker and Jorge as back ups. Reading about Saab it seems like he is from west Sydney and won't like the long drive to Manly. I'd be then throwing the kitchen sink at Johnson.
1.Turbo
2. Johnson
3. Walker
4. Suli
5. Garrick
6. Cust
7. Chez

Now that's a backline to be excited about.

Im excited, until the 1 and 3 spend half the season on the sidelines.
Im not sure we can continue to carry two walking injuries, 3 in you include Parkers glass jaw.
Obviously Tom is a keeper....Dylan, however, Im not so sure.

Dylan had a reasonable run with injuries after his shocking leg break at the end of 2017 . Would have to think that some better luck can occur again after this present setback . Quality and top shelf player and can still make a good and important contribution if he can shake his recent injury woes

Walker is a class player with much attacking weaponry....yet I don't think we have seen enough of this even when match fit....maybe due to converting back and forth between positions, has limited him playing to his full capacity.
Again not part of decisions, but if Iwas, he would have been coming off the wood on Saturday with Cust starting the game....which may have worked out with the injuries, including Parker in the centres.

Still have to give Levi a rest on current trends , Maybe could have given Cust a go at hooker to give Levi a break but can never recall him previously playing there Probably every likelihood though that if Walker was initially on the bench , may not have got injured but team balances and positions made that arrangement awkward .

Are we even in a position with our salary cap to chase anyone ?

Seems that whenever anyone decent is on the market, we are conspicuous in our inactivity.

If this is the case, I wish the club would at least let us know they have plans to blood some of the young guys.

If we look at strengthening I would be looking at Alex Johnson, quality winger, very good full back and very quick. If Fainu is banned permanently in the game we need a hooker with a kicking game and running game ASAP. I would also like to see a goal kicker with an 80 percent success record.
This X 2

I think we need some hard arse leaders. Dce, jakey, have the makings but just need someone who has done it. Thommo was all over that stuff last year but has really come off the boil
Marty has glimpses but looks far too concerned with martys game

The follow me man

I also think we are prop heavy. In the traditional sense .i think we must have some really good value contracts that determine our team just as much as the big contracts and for this reason we dont have enough specialists , half, hooker , back row, fullback centre to a point, all lack specialists in depth at least

We hate on the roosters but there ability, not to invest big dough on props. Jwh is a mainstay but i doubt he is on super serious money these days and the rest are rotated in and through the system

Stacks of props only have a couple of good seasons of running through walls until they develop a step, and come back to the field a little. The roosters seem to have the knack of squeezing a couple of cheap years out of cannon balls who learn to step at the next club

Jake is an 8 , and this team is a little like the blues team a few years back. Lacking genuine gamemakers they looked to add ball playing locks to boost there chances. Jake currently , is not a ball playing forward he plays like the old dart terms sounds

He is a stand off

A rip, tear, bust middle forward like Lolo, Murray, Brown, Radley. The Scum would never let him go but someone like Brandon Smith. Play them at lock and put Jake back into prop rotation. Need that player that smashes out the metres, runs hard, finds their front and has a quick play the ball. Someone to get our sets rolling

Also it'd be nice to have a strike weapon in the outside backs beside Turbo.

Not sure what the story is with fainu but if we loose him, i don't see why Brandon smith isn't a possibility, he wants to play hooker and the storm have harry grant... Brandon Smith is quality, so much energy. I'd loose Walker and play cust at 5/8 if a sacrifice had to be made.

I think its clear we need another old head in the front row. If the starting props are Kapow and AFB and Paseka comes off the bench i don't think he has the ability or temperament to carry on the game by himself. Paseka really should be #4 prop IMO. Some one with a hard head and experience should be #3. As much as i like Keppie i can't see us winning anything with he and Paseka playing the middle half of the game together. It's just not enough firepower,

And i think we are 1 player away in the backline. To me Alex Johnson would be perfect. Someone to cover at fullback since Tom only likes to play half a season. I know people think Parker is a great centre but the truth is that ihe is a great defensive centre. He really doesn't offer much in attack. I guess the other option is to buy a 5/8 and move Walker back to centre which is my prefered option. I know everyone thinks he is an awesome 5/8 but in my opinion he will never be as good a 5/8 as he is a centre.

Thoughts?
I

Yeah i reckon he runs a really good outside and in line but its more like a crash ball close to the line. Pehaps we were too spoiled with Matai and Lyon. But i'd be much more confident if we could create trys from our own half again.
Yep same here but we need speed.Well at least a tad more.

If we could only afford to buy one single type of player ( due to non Roosters salary cap issues) I vote a tall athletic winger.

Cust to 5/8, Walker if he stays to centre , Parker to NSW Cup as a centre reserve , Tafua either to forwards or LFO ( left right out).

Love Horhay but the game has moved past him.
