Walker to 5/8 our X factor for finals

Ok, now we've seen Manly in a game under pressure and walker basically ineffective today do we go back to Croker/Cust at 5.8 and walker to Centre? Especially with Parker injured. I know we had no go forward and we were terrible in the wet but with the parker injury i dont see another option

I think that is a bit harsh, you could say that about most tonight. Warriors ran harder and hit harder than us nearly all night it will be a good lesson for the boys. Personally I like walker there but hey that’s just me.

Absolutely no reason to panic. It was wet and we were outenthused and frustrated (extremely frustrated) early. We tried too hard and forced things. Walker was NOT the problem

Hopefully Des saw enough opportunities to work with to make improvements but I think our biggest enemy tonight was initially complacency followed by errors due to panicking.

He played a couple of games there earlier in the season & struggled to break the line but given it's his preferred position & Walker going well at 5/8th, I'd prefer giving him another chance rather than moving Walker back there.

I actually thought that Walker went off as he was never on screen in the 2nd half.

It shows his weakness as an actual 5/8 in having to create instead of just supporting the left side 😎

With Brad looking worse for wear, Des may have to bring Cade into 5/8 again

I like it! I cant see garrick moving off the wing! If Des wants to keep walker at 5.8 then the only real options are Elliott Funa or Gosiewski at centre. Im not picking on walker but with the parker injury we have a big decision to make only 5 weeks out from the semis

Not sold on walker back to centre unless he can show some improved defence, has been much better at 5/8 and we looked good defensively with parker at centre. This is a blow, and dce injury looks ordinary as well.

Would have been good to have JetSki tonight to fill in at centre. Waddell just looks a bit to sluggish belongs in the middle.

Totally agree - now is the time to blood Funa. It will be interesting to see a strike centre getting good service from Walker. Then again, we don't know the extent of Parker's injury yet

Yep bring Cust back into 5/8. Walker back to the centres were he can concentrate on running.

While Walker didn't play badly, he is not the x-factor that some on here believe.
I'm still waiting on him making a break - and not just making a few metres from an intercept.

What tonight did show walker was easily caught out when pressured in attack, the warriors were on him quickly in defence and once pressured he looked like he never had a second option, Blueprint for other teams for the rest of the year, If parker is out walker to centre and return of cust

Let’s sack DCE and Tommy too on the basis of this game lol. He wasn’t great but he wAs better than them tonight . DCE is a great player but was awful tonight. Tommy was just as bad.
**** happens They aren’t robots and the NRL is a hard marker if you are a bit off.

Weren’t complaining about Walker when we beat Melbourne You don’t think the Storm pressured him.?
Cust has talent but is a work in progress. He is lengths behind Walker.

Not panic at all. You're basing your statements that Walker should remain at 5.8 on a couple of decent games??? The fact of the matter is he has been ok at 5.8 without being great. Has he had a try assist? A line break assist? Maybe 1 forced drop out?
Compare these stats to cust in a similar amount of games and youll see its not panic its just fact!!!

I'd prefer Walker back to centre and Croker at 6. I assume Garrick prefers right centre seeing as he is camped on right wing, so do we move Suli to LHS and disrupt both sides of the defensive structure just to give him a go at centre again?? or do we just push Dylan wider and bring Croker in on left. Walker can roam a bit in attack if he wants anyway. That'd be my preference.

What Mutley says below and yes very much ineffective. People think walker is our best option at 5.8 cos he played a couple decent games and better than he did under barrett but again tell me his stats on try assists, line break assists etc. He's going ok but not great and with parker injured maybe time to move hom back to centre. Only problem then is it exposes his weaknesses in defence
