Tom Trbojevic destined to be one of the greats

With two byes thrown in, if he is out for the maximum 8 predicted then he'll miss 6 games. Hopefully he can be back in less.

Our next 9 weeks are:
Titans (away)
bye (Origin 1)
Raiders (home)
Knights (home)
bye (Origin 2)
Sharks (away)
Warriors (Perth)
Panthers (away)
(Origin 3)
Tigers (home)
Couldn't have asked for better, that is 6 of the bottom 7 teams, plus Sharks.

Just another thought, and apologies if others have mentioned it...being without our budding superstar may see the remaining mortals band together and lift to new heights to try to counter his loss.
Or maybe that's just me being overly optimistic ...

You make a very good point . Teams do lift when they know they cant rely on one super star to get them over the line . They all lift their game and they all become stars and shine together as a team . The knights and the Titans displayed that in round 10

True, Tommy has been smashing it, but if the team play as one we have the talent to win for sure.

Certainly right mate. I just think the tweet itself was average form in the way it was worded.
Agree, Mitch. Sure, it was within the NRL's rules, but taking out a defenceless player mid-air is hardly the definition of "True Strength".
Brought back memories for me of Michael Crocker's tough guy grand final hit on Snake as soon as he took that towering bomb from Inglis. That was legal, too. And completely pissweak. At least Mead was contesting the ball.

On a side note how has Tom Wright been going in the 20's?
Hastings will be more than good enough to fill in while turbo's out but.
If we get anymore injuries thou it might be worth a gamble on Tom Wright.
While he has been playing better under no circumstance shall Lewis Brown be allowd to start.

Oh and in case anybody missed it, Archer has explained the very good reason why the rule doesn't protect a player in Turbo's situation:

But, as referees’ boss Tony Archer explained, Trbojevic had no protection under the ‘tackling in the air’ rule after the ball bounced, rather than was caught on the full.

The reason the rule only applies to balls caught on the full is so players do not jump into the air when they recover balls that are kicked along the ground, such as grubber kicks.

Otherwise players would be jumping while recovering kicks all the time to stop defenders tackling them.

Apparently they are concerned about players jumping when collecting GRUBBERS... I'm not sure how you would be able to physically jump to collect a ball OFF THE GROUND without risking planting your own head into the ground (and of course it would be a low percentage play in terms of picking up the ball), but players will do anything for a penalty these days (apparently).

WOW, what am imbecilic response.
I can appreciate that the bounced ball scenario was never thought of when the rule was introduced but this incident shows a player can be seriously hurt when jumping for a bounced ball. So, instead of trying to justify the original decision the NRL should simply widen its definition to include all occasions when a player has jumped to catch a ball.
Talking about grubber kicks is so stupid, and insulting to our intelligence. Rules should evolve to cover unusual circumstances - such as with Tom.
