Funny how the media all of a sudden want the NRL to give Carney another chance. When we were supposedly looking at him not a peep, but now that he's about to sign the the Cowboys it blah,blah,blah he deserves another shot.

It's quite clear that the Salary Cap investigation has cost us numerous quality players. And will affect our start to the season eg us again way under the cap.

If we're found not guilty or given a slap on the wrists. What can we as a club do about it ?

I'm not 100% sure but I think 'nothing' will be it in reality. I doubt the owners will want to sue the nrl or anything like that.

It's a frustration we all have because if a person remanded to gaol is found guilty at trial, then time spent in the pen is taken into account regarding his sentence, yet Manly have been denied players/sponsors/stability/fan satisfaction but when we are found innocent of everything... what then is our compensation? Nadda... No soup for us!

The whole Carney saga epitomizes the mess that is the NRL.
We've got the amateur hour of the drawn out Manly salary cap issue impacting our ability to sign another half, any half.
We've got the last minute horse trading days before the season begins.
We've got the media reporting a signing followed by the governing body being uncertain whether or not to register said signing.
We've got a debate about which bad boy is worse.
And finally, we've got Greenberg ducking his head into the ****heap atop which he sits, hoping not to be noticed until he can smilingly cut the ribbon for Season 2018.

Seems like Carney was holding out for us since it was his best chance at scoring a starting spot, the board talked Barrett in to looking at someone else (my guess is Barba), and now Carney is committing to the next best offer since we have pulled out.

It seems to me that Manly were holding the cards on this one.

From Twitter it’s sounding like Carney will have to go down to see Greenslime to get approval , funny how Lodge who has done a lot worse didn’t ( the Donkey factor I’m guessing).
