Mark, as you know I am a patient, understanding and compassionate man ... but I am over it.

IMO we are a top 5 side ... IF in his 4th year in charge, Dessie and his cast of cohorts can't even get the consistency of performance that gives fans confidence of toweling up a bottom 4 side ... then .. **** them .. gloves are off.
Well I must say I agree with you.

I was very “ tolerant “ of Des returning , @The Wheel knows well my thoughts on what he did to us after the 2011 GF.

He inherited a fair side , and did well last year off the back of one stellar performance each week by one player.

This year I’ve been amazed at some of the selection decisions and honestly game plans, what game plans.

As we’ve been told it’s a “ results driven business “, well let’s face it out results are piss poor , we managed a win last year ( in hugely emotional and motivating circumstances ) over a top 4 side .

ONE , yes 1 only win in over two years.

NOT GOOD ENOUGH !!

Hello Mark and I hope your in good health
Manly folks are proud people , We are proud of our Legendary clubs Benchmarks of excellence

We are The only club to win a premiership every decade in the modern game since the 70s
1972, 1973, 1976.1978,1987,1996,2008,2011

And the club that holds the record of the biggest winning margin in Grand final History
40 points to NIL

In our proud History of our Benchmark of excellence our Legendary coach Des Hasler was one of our Great Manly contributors

Four years ago We brought our Legendary and Prodigal Son Des back in the belief that his greatness can take us to the top where the Mighty Manly Sea eagles belong

In the four years that Des took over as coach once again and inherited a team with a very strong and competitive roster , Des has not lived up to his past Greatness and has under achieved

We acknowledge the fact that we faced some set backs
But The fact is Great coaches are able to fight back from setbacks and over come adversity and Prevail as it does not take any Greatness to justify failure by offering excuses

In a results driven Business our Business is going back wards and not forward
and our once great coach that our club has highly invested is is getting a low return

The moral of the Story .....
Des was a Manly great and we will always respect him for his great contribution to our clubs Benchmark of excellence
At the moment Des is failing to meet his and our Legendary clubs high standards
I hope he can turn things around and leave us a winner once again
Because losing is not a Manly thing and losers do not last long at Manly

SECOND BEST IS NOT A MANLY THING !

I do not agree that des has come back to a very strong roster since his return from the dogs. With our top heavy salary cap, many positions are left weak, slow centres, average wingers, letting go Api and suspended Fainu. I reckon we over achieved to get to last 4 in 2021. (and that was only because turbo was playing out of his skin). I believe where we are in 2022 is spot on. we are a position 8-12 team. That is my take and perspective on the matter. No delusion or wishful thinking. we will only improve if we can wisely allocate our salary cap to obtain players with say a 7/10 ability in all positions, rather than a few 9/10 players and 4.5/10 or to 5/10 players in other positions. Just look how balanced were our squad in 2007, 2008, 2011 through to 2013 was.

Hey Mark & Bozo. I feel the sharks are circling on this site. Ok Des is in the twilight of his career and he is under the pump to get this team going.

So lets play a game. Des goes, who do we get to replace him? This is a serious issue because everyone else out there are crap. There is no one else. I am open to suggestions.

The last time we had to look for a new coach, there were a few former premiership-winning coaches available... and at least one of them publicly stated words to the effect of "thanks but no thanks".

I found that odd as even though we finished 15th in 2018, we still had a decent squad with then-current test and origin players. Surely any well-credentialed or good prospective coaches would have jumped at the chance to progress their career... but apart from Des, that didn't seem to happen.

Maybe the club should ask itself why that was the case, and maybe proactively do something about it, before we next have to go to market for another head coach... whenever that is.

If he keeps Schuster at 6 for the rest of the season we will be in the top 4 .He is our future and he needs a couple more 80minute games to be match fit for our run home . Oh and how NSW were crying out for a couple of those no look passes on Wednesday night .Let's go Manly .

Could be. But what do you do with Foran? Play him off the bench as a second hooker?
I doubt DESpicable will move the captain of a successful SOO side to the bench.
Realistically, the only time The Shoe will play five-eight this season will be when DCE or Foran are unavailable.

Cameron smith, billy slater, or cronk. Champion players that spent their entire careers under the best coach and might be able to bring the storm system to Manly. In order to beat the best you need to copy the best. They could probably get more Queenslanders playing for Manly too.

I understand your thoughts but success comes from being proactive rather than being late and reactive. Sacking a coach mid season is foolish. I am a real critic of Des at the moment and agree with Marks observations. I hope that management are not sitting on their hands waiting for Des to suddenly change and pull a rabbit out of his hat. I hope they are planning ahead and looking around for a replacement for next year if we don't improve.
