The Penns own the club, the question is whether they want to have control over the club or not. Des seemed to control multiple aspects of the club when he was here - he controlled Manly and the owners saw that getting out of hand - we all know the rest.

It 'seems' and I say that because I don't have inside knowledge, that the Fultons are doing the same thing, but on a larger scale. Cleary seems to be put in place to bring about the right level of control with each position not operating outside of it's boundaries - hence the reference to 'governance'.

I think the Penn's want to bring back control of the club and not have a runaway element that is running in the wrong direction - Cleary is the man assigned to make this happen. I don't see him backing down, or being canned anytime soon, in fact, if he goes it will be when the job is done.

I believe this is a necessary and strong move.

My big hope is that they brought him in because they could see the monster they'd created by letting ZtH loose and giving The Immortal so much power. Not wanting to upset family and friends, they brought someone else in to do it. I know, I know ...

A stoush between Fulton and new CEO Tim Cleary has come to light this week, and Fox Sports’ chief NRL reporter James Hooper says it could have big implications.

Why have a Manager of football operations? When Bozo is there? Bozo is the head of Football?

Seemed a little odd at the time he was employed and haven't heard boo out of the bloke.

What exactly do they both do?

I don't think we need to hear from him. How many mangers of football operations do we hear from? Not every role needs to communicate publicly.

If there is crossover, or duplicated responsibilities, then I'm sure it's on Cleary's radar.

I suspect Penn wants to stop the bleeding. Cleary is saying the right things and already has some runs on the board. Getting rid of Cleary is like saying we want the opposite of what was said in the article.

I like Cleary's chances in this squabble. It's not like the good old days before private ownership. Bozo's biggest problem is he doesn't pay the bills and, in recent years at least, has no fuceking runs on the board.

Ray Hadley this morning said he had been told (can't for the life of me work out by whom) that Tim cleary invited Eddie obeid junior into the manly chairmans lounge at the parra manly game. Inferring some dodgy relationship between the two. To give the story further legs, Ray helpfully contacted max donelly at parra to see if he would have done the same, who said no. It appears to be well and truly game on. And just as an aside, why do the penns allow this sort of public brawling between two senior club officials. They own the joint, they should be reading the riot act, and at least coming out with a statement as to what is going on.

wow the plot thickens!! It is like Penns won the war of independence and now there is a civil war about to take place. Penn has been unusually very quiet. Its about the time of year where he gives an interview from his office plastered with Delmege and Quantum jerseys on the wall and shows us pictures of what Lottoland will look like after the redevelopment and proceeds to tell us it is a results driven business.
