The Take on Jake

Better to overpay someone who puts in 100% every game(in the forwards department) than pay someone 50-70% of that whose efforts are inconsistent.

In saying that "if" Jake is on $900,000 he is probably overpaid by $200,000.

I'm not always a fan of the "family club" concept, yes it has it's obvious positives but i think the negatives in the long run out weigh the positives and can hamstrung the club in a variety of ways creating a prolonged downturn.

Players salaries aren't directly determined by how well they play, would be nice if they were but it's not reality. They're determined by what rival clubs are willing to pay them. If we tried to pay Jake $700k we would lose him to a club willing to pay more. I think the Turbos are priced just right, to fend off rival clubs offers.

Jake is tough and puts in each week.

He has a good offload, for some reason have not seen much of it, some sets he is just looking for a quick play the ball and looking for the next play rather than playing what’s in front of him.

I think Jake is an out and out Prop forward, we have such a good talent base of junior front rowers coming through, Titmus, Fainu and Tuitavake. Not sure if we will see Jake back in the front row for these reasons.
