This is what is needed but won’t happen

Here are 2 blokes who bleed for this famous club I love and has got me through some very dark times in life.

I never ever want to see us ever again where we are now. It breaks my heart and I know many other supporters and members

Penn and co if you have any desire for this club this needs to happen

Jake captain and 2V’s coach.

This is the real manly
Both these blokes don’t care about facilities or your political agendas , they just care about manly.

Hugh is a good man but he is not a passionate Manly man Like Penn
Money talks
They both have money and one puts his money and time where his heart is .
Owning a club is a thankless job as you will never please everyone and you will always have ungrateful people having a go at you
But there would be no greater pleasure than owning the club you love
To all the doubters
Money talks and bull**** walks
I will be always loyal to all that have inve$ted in our club
I will be a sorry day for Manly when the Penns get tired of burning 1.5-2 million every year on us, as apart from trying to find another benefactor that feels the same way, there is no other way out for Manly, apart from perhaps relocating, our poor and fickle fan base cannot sustain us like Souths, Brisbane, and it's been probably around twenty years since the Leagues Club has put any money into the team.
The Dragons were finding themselves in the same boat as us as they were running their operations very lean and no longer had the support from their Leagues Club, but they still have a very loyal fan base, one which I am envious of, and managed to sell fifty percent of the club to WIN Television to cover a $6 million dollar debt to the NRL, I don't know if we could have the same luck.

Those old enough will remember what happened to Newtown and North Sydney. Both are now playing in the Reserve Grade comp.
Sadly, that is the reality facing Manly. A different coach won't change it.
No suburban-based club can survive in the NRL these days without a successful Leagues Club pumping money in (both legally and illegally) and/or a super rich owner willing to spend whatever it takes to be competitive. Add to this is the fact that Manly has the second smallest pool of juniors, an outdated home ground, a dwindling fan base, competes for attention and sponsorship in a region strong in rugby union and support for the Sydney Swans, a management in more disarray than the Liberal Party, carries no favours with the NSW Government -- and is systematically white-anted by the media and the NRL.
There are only two potential solutions, imo.
The first is to sell out to an owner for whom wasting money is not an issue. This is not realistic.
The second is to transition into a joint-venture. I've touched on this in the past and I'm happy to share my detailed vision of how this could work (if any of you want to read my plan).
What I believe is that if we still want Manly to play in the NRL we must be willing to embrace change. It's not something I want to happen, but it is the only pragmatic way, imo.

Thankyou.
Not sure why that particular person must answer to all my comments despite saying they won’t and every time must be rude!

I’m not quite tech savvy and still learning this site. So Thankyou for your help. Much appreciated.
Hopefully not another one Lurking..

I’m sure it was already common knowledge but if we ever get in financial trouble, Greenberg has reiterated the NRL won’t bail Manly out.

That's because the NRL has no reserve funds, and has accumulated ZERO assets since it's been getting these record pay TV deals, in other words they've pi$$ed up against the wall everything they've earned over the past twenty years.

How much did Penn realise from the LG sale? I have read 15M but don't know for a fact. Have they REALLY burnt 1.5-2M a year? Have they actually LOST anything?

Are there any hard facts?

NRL's 1.8 billion dollar deal stipulates 8 NRL games per week.:wait:

Greenturd us full of shyte in his response to a bailout. :finger:

A 6 million dollar loan (like Saints just repaid) is nothing compared to the damages to the Broadcaster in losing 1 game and the mess an odd number of Teams would do to the schedule :nerd:

Not to mention the case Manly would mount against the NRL Cap Auditor and the subsequent costs of our appeal that would be directly attributable to our financial weakness

NRL hand over operations to 16 Franchisees and are reliant on them to exist :D

Well I'm at least happy that the owners have spoken.

At least Mr Fluffy is in the country, that's a big start.

It seems the Chinese are looking to buy a team in the NRL, now there would be a set of owners that would be well cashed up, have no problems bringing Tooves or Des back and are looking for a wharf to buy somewhere in Sydney...perfect
the chinese are having problems taking money out of their country. Look at whats happened to the chinese football owners of late. AC Milan Aston Villa etc.

Middle East group is who the Penns should have sold to.

I think the wharf the chinese would be interested in would be the one at Bangaroo .... they quite like casinos

Kent said that Penn's got 35M from Leagues Club sale.
Kent had no farking idea, it was more around 22 million.
Anyway so what, if the LC were stupid enough to sell that's their problem, but because they made such a profit, people feel it's ok for the Penns to lose 1.5+ million a year, the LC sale was a one off event, who will cover the losses in ten years time when they could be 3-4 million a year?

Only quoting what I heard mate, no need to get worked up, talk about shooting the messenger.
