If that is true (and who really knows except those directly involved), then that is plain stupid. As good as he is, he is not worth that kind of money. I wouldn't want us paying any more than $900k (absolute max).

I think he needs time to sort out personal stuff. It isnt the Sharks etc where he can just drive further to work, he's moving to a new state altogether. He made his decision for next yr so this whole "ship him off now" isn't realistic. He has a contract with us for 2015 so he won't be going unless all parties have a mutual agreement. Plus they haven't got the $$$ this year to pay him anyway (apparently).

Back to Foz though, no news of a contract withdrawal after Monday's meeting so i'm looking at that as a positive (clutching at whatever i can haha)
lol the funny part is its not his call. If the two clubs come to an agreement it doesn't need him to agree :rofl::rofl:

He wants his cake and to eat it too

TITANS-bound playmaker Daly Cherry-Evans has finally broken his silence on his much-publicised decision to leave Manly for the Glitter Strip in 2016.

The premiership-winner who controversially revealed to his team-mates his decision to sign a lucrative four-year deal with the Titans from next year, has opened up on his goals for the future and his strong desire to leave the Northern Beaches club on high this season.

“I play this game for obviously my family, I play it for myself and more importantly I play it for my teammates and my coach and unless any of those groups of individuals want me gone, I won’t be going anywhere,” he told Fox Sports.

“I’ll be making sure I honour my contract this season. As far as I’m concerned, and as far as I’ve been told, I have plenty of support from the coach and the playing roster, so I’ll be doing whatever I can to see out this year and make it a successful one.

“I felt as though ‘Tooves’ needed to know before anyone else.

“I can’t really remember who didn’t shake my hand because everyone was so overwhelmingly supportive of me and genuinely seemed happy for me that I had made my mind up.”

For Manly, the attention now turns to locking up Cherry-Evans’ halves partner Kieran Foran.

According to the RLW Mole, Foran is waiting on a revised offer from Manly after the Eels submitted a lucrative $1.3 million per year deal.

1.3 million a year for Foz is absolutely ridiculous! There needs to be an investigation if we pay anything near that.

Agree - great player but that is ricidulous, and I don't mean the money - I'm referring to using the Mole as an official source!

Possibly, but on what grounds would Manly cancel his contract? DCE still has to agree regardless of the Titans-Manly agreement. If he wants to go after he is asked then ok but at this stage he has ruled it out.

I just keep looking at this weekends game to focus on something other than negatives but then again maybe another bombshell gets dropped post game and it's another week of more speculations lol 🙂

my understanding is that manly own his contract so they are allowed to ship it off/ sell it. I just think its humorous even if he was allowed to refuse that he may get his future employers nose out of joint

I don't believe this is right. The contract is between Manly and DCE; for it to end, it would need to be mutually agreed, or DCE would need to be in breach and give Manly justifiable cause to terminate it. I don't believe the contract can be on-sold (which can happen in the corporate world - e.g. customer contracts), but not player contracts. I'm not 100% sure, but 98.9999% @:)

I'll be very surprised but delighted if he stayed.

If the Eagles have been successful they'd be bleating this to the rooftops, they are not, so it's bad news.

Oh well we move on, and one thing is for certain , If this happens we are going to have some decent $$$$ to be throwing into the player market that's for sure.
Yeah Mark I think Foran is gone as well. Remember in 2012 he was changing his mind daily (supposedly) and that was just to follow a coach. All his mates still played at Manly!!

I believe if Foran stays we could turn things around pretty quick, that other guy can go we will use that money to bolster the pack and buy a cheaper halves partner.

There can be no reason why Foran hasn't announced by now that he is staying other than the fact he is leaving. Obviously he's just working out the details of his new contract at either Parra, Warriors, Dogs or Rorters. He's not staying at Manly.

You sound so sure..... Maybe he's sharpening one of his turds.

I'm not sure that is the case. Players have a lot more rights in Australian sports than they do in the US. I also doubt the NRL rules would allow it. When players move clubs it requires the cancelling of one contract and the signing of another one with the club, the contract doesn't stay the same.

You are correct we could sack him NRL and he could do nothing about that but we would still have 2 pay him.
