We need a reliable goal kicker. How harf is it to learn? Hiku needs to spend extra time to be anywhere near Mateo's confidence

It's as harf as it is to spell harf! :giggle::giggle::angel:

Seriously folks....I agree. I'd really like to know why Hiku was kicking. Not saying he is bad (but he didn't make any) but it's hard to go past 5/5 from Mateo!!

An ex DCE coach said recently how DCE was always the one putting in hours of extra time...making sure his kicking was spot on, which seems to fly in the face of the "No one asked me to practise" comment Daly made recently.

WTF is going on?

It's a pretty damning indictment of Tooves as coach that it's round 16 and we're still talking about ****ing goal kicking.

As for Foz, I've said before. 3 years 600k is about right. But if it's a million + in a few years you won't notice as the cap goes up and that deal is commonplace. He'd still be only be 26/7 then and if it's a lifetime job then it works in our favour over the long run so long as he doesn't play on when he's really done (aka "pulling a Watmough")

Surely there are blokes in Sydney who can't play football but can kick goals, that we could pick up for $20k for the rest of the season. I'm thinking your Eion Crossan, Daryll Halligan, Ross Conlon, Mike Eden's of the world. Could hide them in the forwards as there isn't much doing there at the moment.

Ive been reliably informed on this site that players aren't allowed to practice goal kicking, unless specifically told to by the coaching staff..
Im still laughing at that gem of "info"

Foz is really living off reputation. It's been one good game in about a year. It's like he's already in the blue and gold.

Zorba column: Foran the fall guy in Eels deal

TIMING and trust is everything for a five-eighth in rugby league … on and off the field.

The number six has long been known as the pivot and is a real link between the forwards and the backs.

He is essentially the schemer and along with his halfback, form part of the most essential ingredients in a rugby league side.

v1

Manly’s Kieran Foran ticks all the boxes which is why he has been, and remarkably now still is, one of the most sought-after players in the NRL.

FORAN THE VICTIM IN POWER STRUGGLE, SAYS TEAMMATE

His teammates trust him emphatically and he trusts them.

Off the field Foran has placed his trust in certain key people at Parramatta and they have let him down big time.

What must be eating Foran from the inside is that people who care about him warned him about joining the seemingly always torn-apart club.

Even his managers warned him and placed the club at the bottom of those clubs interested in signing him. “Basket case” is the term often used when describing the Eels.

The club faces the real possibility of starting the 2016 season with a minus four-point fine by the NRL for exceeding the salary cap by massive amounts.

KISS OF DEATH

Foran is a fiercely loyal person to those he cares about but that loyalty in Parramatta coach Brad Arthur must be wearing thin.

The drums are beating that if Arthur doesn’t deliver Foran to the club, his days in charge will be numbered.

He got sport’s version of the kiss of death this week when he received the “full support of the board” at Parramatta.

So even Foran's Manager could not talk him out of Dalai - WTF?

Kieran Foran fuels speculation he may turn his back on Parramatta Eels

The speculation over Kieran Foran's future is set to drag on, with the Manly five-eighth not expected to make a decision about whether to honour his $4.8 million, four-year deal with Parramatta until next week.

Foran, who was due to play for the Sea Eagles in Friday night's match against South Sydney at ANZ Stadium, did not want to make a call before the match and Fairfax Media was told he was unlikely to do so over the weekend.

The indecision by the New Zealand vice-captain would appear to indicate that he is seriously considering walking away from the deal he signed three months ago after the Eels sought to change the terms of the lucrative contract.

Until Foran agrees to remove clauses enabling him to quit Parramatta at any time after he formally joins the club on November 1 if there are changes to the management or coach and which would then entitle him to a payout of up to one season's salary, the Eels won't ask the NRL to register his contract. It is believed they will accept a new get-out clause if Brad Arthur was no longer coach.

Arthur's presence has been cited as the only reason Foran is still considering the move after being advised by many people close to him the events of the past week demonstrate why he should not join Parramatta.

It has been reported that Foran became particularly uneasy about joining the Eels aftercomments by chairman Steve Sharp to Fairfax Media on Monday, in which he said: "Who is more important, the club or an individual?"

This prompted Foran to issue a statement on Tuesday, saying: "I have shown the utmost respect to Parramatta and I'm not 100 per cent sure this has been shown to me."

Most viewed his measured criticism as confirmation that Foran would not go through with the deal and both Manly and Canterbury were waiting to swoop.

It is unlikely either could match the $1.2 million per season that Parramatta have offered him and the fact that Foran still hasn't ruled out committing to the Eels has prompted some in the game to question whether the money is too much to turn his back on.

Gold Coast are the only NRL club with enough room under their salary cap to accommodate Foran after his Sea Eagles halves partner Daly Cherry-Evans used the now defunct Round 13 rule to backflip on a $1.1 million deal and stay at Manly but Foran had previously told the Warriors he did not want to leave Sydney.

It is likely the Sea Eagles or Bulldogs would have to backload any deal with Foran so that he received more in later seasons than they could pay him next year.

Meanwhile, the NRL is next week expected to reinforce their warning to Parramatta for the club to undergo an independent governance review and implement the findings by next February or start the 2016 season on minus four competition points.

The review was a condition of the penalty imposed on the Eels for salary cap breaches, which included a $525,000 fine and suspended docking of four competition points.

Parramatta lodged an appeal two weeks ago and while there is likely to be some room for negotiation over the terms of the review, the NRL is unlikely to allow the Eels to conduct it themselves.

If Foran signs with the GC he'll be able to rent out DCE house, simplies@:)😉
