Haha love it when your in headless chook quote mode. So entertaining. You sure your not DCE? 😉
And yeah, your spot on mate. Id definitely make sure other workmates that do the same job as me get the same pay. It’s only fair. You obviously don’t agree but I think many would.

And there will ALWAYS ALWAYS be young players that step up and become superstars. They just need the chance. Look at all the Greats that have left Manly. Fulton, Toovey, Lyons, Beaver, all left/retired yet we survived. We will survive and thrive when dce leaves as well.
ooh. am i seeing a little bit of socialist ideology popping up there? equal pay for all regardless of how well you do your job? All just giggles.

You are right thou. I don't agree completely about equal pay. when I first started in the Tv business back in 95 as a trainee one of my very well-paid senior cameramen was a complete useless cockwomble. eventually, we shared the same job title but because of his time in the job he was always paid more than me even thou my productivity and skill level was far superior.

You get paid what you are worth to someone else at a specific point in time. DCE was just in the right place at the right time even if as I agree he's not worth the coin he's on.

We are just waiting for the young Finau to be ready which could be in next 2 years. then its bye bye DCE which I wont have an issue with. No use chopping him now only to bring in a stop gap .

I would've paid you more, just for using the word cockwomble

DCE under Des 2011 was awesome

DCE under Toovey 2012 - 2014 was awesome

DCE under Barrett 2015 - 2018 was average/awesome

DCE under Des 2020 - 2022 is average/awesome

Did the Barrett years hinder DCE? He seemed to be the best young half going round till Barrett
so simple yet so completely 100% on point.

I keep bringing it up but one of Barrett's main things was to change the DES/TOOVEY DCE into a Johnathon Thurston style Game commanding half. there were loads of stories from the time where TDICK went on and on about changing DCE's game from a one side guy to a roam the field and run all the plays guy. HE WAS NEVER THAT GUY.

So yes I agree that Tbaz took a clive Churchill winning half and totally stuffed his game. last year we saw less of that DCE and look how well the side did with Tommy firing. This year? Toms out or injured, no Shoe for a large part of the year and the TBAZ DCE has returned.

Workers in my industry (rail) certainly don’t get 10yrs to prove themselves. Shipped out pretty quick if there not up to it, especially if there a cockwomble 😂

Let’s hope young Fainu lives up to the hype..

I don't get it. Retention should not be based on what someone did more than 3 years ago. You only reflect on the past to assess what you are going to get looking into the following seasons. You don't resign somebody placing a ball and chain on your salary cap because you can't identify a immediate replacement. Extending DCE was poor business and unnecessary. This club is far too slow at moving into the future. I see another two years of the same from DCE he won't change the way he plays and the players outside of him might get jack of it and sign elsewhere. That's hardly building for the future. I'd rather a steady half back that does what Foran did namely utilizing the players around him. You don't need a 1 million dollar player to do that. Instead you surround your young half with star players. Wait that sounds like 2011!

Therefore, along with DCE, we should offload Jake Trbojevic coz he sure as hell isn't value for money & is on much more than Kikau. At the moment the only 'value for money' players at Manly are Garrick, Koula, Olakau'atu, Aloai, Tuipulotu, Davey, Croker, Parker.....the rest forget including Tom & Jake.

Jake to me is the guy you build an entire club culture around. Not just a team.

His never say die, passionate, teamwork inspiring, leadership attitude is 2nd to none in the league.
He’s dependable. He’s courageous. He’s a young man that other young men would look up to and want to follow into battle.

He also has 2 other younger brother superstars that are factored into the equation also. A package deal.

At some point I think you’re correct. His skills on the field will get to a point where he is no longer value for money. I think currently though, he’s being coached the Aiden Tolman school of Rugby League so to speak.

But right now in 2022 on the money he’s on, he’s the guy I want as captain of my club. He’s a fantastic young man. And he’s on a reported 300-400k less than Captain Courageous.

Agree with everything mate…..just not his salary. The reported $930k a year is overs for what he does on the field. He’s nowhere near players like Kikau or Radley or Murray who are on far less. Jake can thank his brother Tom for the amount he’s on. DCE May not deliver constantly & is definitely not worth the money he’s on but he wins us many more games than Jake has or ever will! Players are paid on potential & to be an integral part in winning games not because he’s a nice guy! I love Jake but when people talk about salary cap & DCE in the same breath & bag him then sorry but Jake is a big cause of our cap issue also! Marty is going so not gonna bring him into this. As for Tom….. he owes us big time! As I said currently not one of DCE, Tom or Jake are value for money. I think I’ve gone off track here Lolol…..

I'm not really Mal Cochrane...
Agree to an extent. He is on too much, but he is the defensive rock of this team, without him our centre would be so soft.
Kikau turns up occasionally, Radley and Murray I agree with

Agree with your points mate. Good ones.

I just feel Jake offers more than just on the field performances to the club. So the culture he brings and the standards he sets go beyond 80mins a week.

Never would suggest you pay Jake for being a good bloke - for me it’s about the things I listed in my previous comment.

If Jake didn’t have superstar brothers or was involved in off field incidents or didn’t turn up to members days, didn’t coach junior clubs etc etc - Id agree, he wouldn’t be worth the trouble.

But he is everything I want out of a Manly player - on and off the field. He is the standard we should set.

Agree re Kikau - easy to run at opposition centres when you are playing for a gun team and forward pack.

Lets see how he goes at the Dogs where he will have to actually take hit ups at other forwards.

There is zero chance Manly would be better off with Kikau than Jake.

Questions to the Silvertails brain trust. DCE seems to be at his best for QLD. Is it the team or the coaching that brings this out? I know he cops a lot, but maybe he is not being coached the best? Not surr what it is, but seems a different player in Origin.

His performance tonight sums it up for me. Hope he stays with Manly for life.
Blokes inspiring to his team mates… and supporters.

Topped the runs with 14 hit ups.
Highest post contact metres out of the forwards.
31 tackles.

What an effort.

Love him.
