Have they changed it to 7 years from 10 years?maybe they changed that rule to 7 years, possibly, by the time the deal kicks in , if 7 it could also be applied to jakeys id assume

not 100 % . but i thought i read it somewhere.Have they changed it to 7 years from 10 years?
Marquee player allowance is for 8 year players but it's only 200k across the whole top 30.I assume DCE's new deal will also be eligible for the marquee/10 year player discount so will be costing us even less of our cap?
We still don't know the numbers, <$800k is a good deal, >$1M is a bad deal.I was more thinking that when Cameron Smith, who is all but certain to be a future immortal, was in the final year of his longest contract (i.e. not a year before it finished) he was only given one-year extensions by the Storm.
As for Melbourne's re-signings this week. Coates is 21, Grant 24, Hughes 27... DCE is 33.
A 4-year deal for a guy who won a premiership in 2020, isn't quite the same as giving a 33-year-old a two year extension on a current deal which still has two years left to run.
For what it's worth I would have been happier if the club had a discussion around DCE extending next year. The club would have a better idea of a contract value to offer, OR maybe... just maybe... we'd be able to throw in a halfback on minimal coin who could get the job done, while allowing us to spend more salary cap money where we need to spend it.
I would assume part of the deal was too keep it quiet, his salary and worth attracts a lot of attention, none of it positive , South of his last contract or maybe south of a million is the ammount mentioned . Looking at our 3rd parties in the media , you would have to assume most is cap inclusive,Hi ST's do we know as yet how much DCE 's extension for 2024 and 2025 is worth in salary cap terms or what the deal is ?
I'm 50/50 on resigning him for that long into the future even though I am a big fan of his .But please someone tell me the deal isnt on the level his current one is ? i.e its on a reduced amount ,if its not I think that is crazy
Well, I don't think Cronk will catch him. Unless Uncle Nick sorts it out.Interesting stat after tonight's game:
"Daly Cherry-Evans is the all-time leader for 40-20 kicks with 33, well clear of Cooper Cronk in second place with 21."
This kind of game he is playing against the Broncos is the kind of game I worried about when he was extended for another 2 years when his current contract only finishes at the end of next year...All the neysayers seem quiet 🤣🤣
Great game DCE
Nah, don't worry about it, Scorpio - he'll only get better with age. Oh, wait…This kind of game he is playing against the Broncos is the kind of game I worried about when he was extended for another 2 years when his current contract only finishes at the end of next year...
