The Daly Cherrygraph

I think you'll find Fainu starting with Hodko on the bench for the rest of the season assuming Walker is fit. Had no choice at hooker with Wright and Brown being the only two players we had available to fill in at the time.
Agreed I think TB has got Walkz playing an opening batsmans role, take the sting out of the attack then bring Hodko on to capitalise on a good start.

Happy for him but at the same time find his selection puzzling.
He misses out last year when in top form and arguably the best 7 in the comp....... but they pick him now when he's in woeful form and probably having the worst season of his career.
Scapegoat if it's 3 - 0 ?

Overall congrats to DCE for the call up. I hope he can establish himself at that level again as it will rub off on his club performance. But i have this sick feeling i’m going to have to actually care about a QLDer. Prefer it when i hate the lot of them and get smashed lol.

Bringing him into a dead rubber is probably the best situation for him tbh. If he was in there games 1 & 2 when the old guard retired and they lost then he would be the reason. Not doubting the creative media will find a way to slam him in game 3 win, lose or draw.

Oh fark I'm getting ready for the barrage from my mates at the pub when Qld get flogged. It'll be all DCE 's fault.
They've already started on me.Ash Taylor should be there. I like Taylor, but he's still a rocks and diamonds player for mine.
If (when)qld lose, I don't think Walters will throw Daly under the bus. I put all that shiit down to Smith and JT.

I just want to see how much dce will get involved in the origin game compared to his club side. How will he steer qld around the park when he can’t steer manly.

I’ve admired the great Queensland sides of the last decade or so, never been seen before and probably won’t again in my lifetime anyway.

I'd say that the NSW/Australian sides of the 60s and 70s would give them a damn good run.

A NSW team of (with no residence Queenslander's):

Graham Eadie, Ken Irvine, Reg Gasnier, Graeme Langlands, Michael Cleary, Bob Fulton, Tommy Raudonikis, Kevin Ryan, Ian Walsh, John O'Neill, Norm Provan, Ron Coote, Johnny Raper. Bench - Steve Rogers, Dick Thornett, Craig Young, Terry Randall.

Up against what I think is the best Qld team from the past dozen years:

Billy Slater, Darius Boyd, Greg Inglis, Brent Tate, Israel Falou, Johnathan Thurston, Cooper Cronk, Matt Scott, Cameron Smith, Petero Civoniceva, Nate Myles, Matt Gillett, Corey Parker. Bench - Sam Thaiday, Steve Price, Michael Crocker, Justin Hodges.

That would be an Origin game for the ages. And all things being equal (e.g. fitness) I would actually put my money on NSW.

I just want to see how much dce will get involved in the origin game compared to his club side. How will he steer qld around the park when he can’t steer manly.

That will be interesting because TBH, I haven't seen much in the way or organising from Munster at 5/8. A lot of that is likely to fall on Billy Slater.

State of Origin 2018: Queensland coach Kevin Walters challenges Daly Cherry-Evans and Corey Oates to win Game Three

QUEENSLAND coach Kevin Walters has delivered returning Maroons Daly Cherry-Evans and Corey Oates a blunt outlook on their State of Origin futures: Win Game Three if you want to be picked next year.

Cherry-Evans will make his comeback from a three-year exile next Wednesday, after Walters confirmed that the Manly skipper will wear the No. 7 jersey over Ben Hunt at Suncorp Stadium.

Broncos winger Oates will also return to the Origin arena in his first match since Game One last year, following the withdrawal of captain Greg Inglis with a broken thumb.

Walters said the extra experience of Cherry-Evans, Oates and returning forward Tim Glasby was the key factor behind their inclusion as Queensland fight to avoid a series whitewash.

But Walters also made it clear their futures are in their own hands, challenging them to force the selectors into remaining loyal to them next year by winning Game Three.

“We’re very loyal as Queenslanders, and the selectors have been very loyal. But we want to be loyal to a winning team,” Walters said.

“That’s what we need to be loyal to more than anything else.

“We picked (Cherry-Evans) for a reason. We want to win Game Three. That’s the sole reason why we have selected the 17 that we have.

“Our first priority is to win Game Three and start building with another eye on the future as well. If DCE can have a good performance, there’s no reason he can’t be back here next year.

“For Corey, he has been knocking on the door since his last appearance. No doubt Corey will want to give himself a nice game and a really strong game to cement his spot.”

Hunt has been moved to the bench as the team’s utility in favour of Cherry-Evans, who has long been rumoured to be on the outer with Queensland officials and senior players.

Walters again denied those suggestions and also defended Hunt’s performance in Game Two, after the playmaker came under heavy scrutiny for his decisions in attack when NSW lost James Roberts to the sin bin.

He said the reason for Cherry-Evans’ recall had nothing to do with Hunt’s Origin II effort, but a lack of leadership in the halves.

“He’s a great experienced player … he’s a premiership winner, he’s played Origin football, he’s played Test football,” Walters said of Cherry-Evans.

“In Games One and Two, we just lacked a little bit of leadership in those positions. I think he provides certainly all of that.

“That experience around the halves is something we haven’t had in this series. It’s an area there where, we haven’t been let down in, but it’s an area we can get better at.

“DCE can fill those shoes.

Slater to captain final game
“Ben’s first game was a little bit indifferent, second game a lot better. We know he belongs at this level, we know that he does belong in the Queensland team.

“It’s just a matter of finding his role within the side. The interchange role is one that can be really effective for us at this level … He covers a number of positions, from hooker into the halves and he’s a dangerous player as well.

“We’ve taken all the load off him now and we just want him to go out and play footy which he does best.”

Inglis just short of back-flipped on the donkeys. He'd agreed to a handshake deal and then went to Souths for more $$$. He's not even from QLD but chose to play for them and they worship him.
Not even worth trying to figure out.
Go Cherry! Hope you are the only Queenslander who has a good game.

That was different. GI couldn’t get to Brisbane to sign the contract as they stopped all the planes because it was raining.

Kevvie’s lost the plot. Banging on about loyalty when he just dropped Hunt to the bench... Putting pressure on DCE by saying “there’s no reason he won’t be picked next year if he wins us the game” (implying he will never be picked again if they lose)...

Whats the bet DCE will be treated like the Mitchell Pearce of QLD if they lose. Although DCE is far better than Pearce he was ****. Kev Walters will get the boot soon too, he is too all over the shop.

Didn't the nsw media do the same thing to Jamie Lyon? Memory is fuzzy but I thought they complained and complained that the game's best centre didn't want to play origin.

Eventually he relented, nsw lost...and the media got stuck right into him..?

Ironic that D C E is selected again with the back drop of his least impressive and in the main, under performing season for Manly to date . Anyway good luck to him and hope that he can give a good account of himself but even more would prefer that he can manage an injury free match , Manly still has a challenge to avoid the spoon in their remaining club fixtures this year .

Kevie is just protecting Hunt and throwing red meat to the rabbid Suncorp crowd 😎

But Chez got his Maroons jumper back as he said he would :finger: #Queenslander 😛
