The Daly Cherrygraph

I'm calling BS but wouldn't it be a " **** you" to the NRL & the Titans if we ended up with DCE, Myles & Elgey.

I would be PMSL for the rest if the year if that happened.

Whilst I think it's BS, I can see the Titans issue, they have paid huge money for Chery and can't now afford Myles.

Manly can afford Myles, DCE and LG.

Certainly interesting times
Poor old titans they offered too much money for a player because they suddenly had the NRLs backing and it put them in a bad cap situation. I feel so terrible for them having screwed the natural market value of halves. It's just really disappointing to see such a well managed club who were poaching players come unstuck.

....................in case no one noticed this post is dripping with sarcasm

I wasn't saying never I just think next is a bit ridiculous lockyer > Thurston. I just think theres players before him who have won more premierships and had the origin and international success
I agree the likes of Lokyer and Meninga are up there and deserving of the immortal status and all three will and all three over time will become immortals. I don't think he will be the next immortal rather will become an immortal. Slip up on my reply soz.

Just my two cents worth on DCE as a future immortal......

DCE will probably never become a Rugby League Immortal. And that's not anything against the kids ability, but there are far more deserving players out there.

Mal Meninga - 4 Kangaroo Tours, 2 as captain. 3 time Canberra premiership captain and 2 time premiership player with Souths in Brisbane. 46 tests for Australia, 32 Origins for Qld and coached the Maroons to 8 straight Origin series wins. I'd argue that Mal's record is actually better than any of those who have already become Immortals.

Darren Lockyer - 3 Broncos premierships, 59 tests, 36 Origins and 2003 Kangaroo Tour captain. NRL games record holder.

Brad Fittler - Rorters premiership captain and a premiership win at Penrith. 3 World Cup wins, the last two as captain, 3 Kangaroo Tours (his first in 1990 as the youngest ever Kangaroo at the age of 18) including captain of the 2001 Tour. 38 tests and 31 Origins. I don't think Immortals selectors will care about his coaching record.

Laurie Daley - 3 time Canberra premiership player. Captained NSW to 3 straight Origin series wins (1992-94). 21 tests, 23 Origins (plus 5 & 3 respectively for SL in 1997). Origin winning coach for NSW.

And that's just off the top of my head and doesn't include the likes of Thurston. I can't see DCE matching any of those records, even if he wins a few more premierships as a player with Manly or another club and goes on to play a high number of tests and origins.

I loved every word of this post !!

Geez I hope Manly aren't setting themselves up for another fall. I certainly hate this season to be remembered as the year we lost two international halves, possibly a coach and dare I say it, although doubtful, winning our first wooden spoon

With due respect Cherry-Evans is a very good first grade halfback (when in his best form) but he is and will never be an immortal.

Sterling and Mortimer for 2 were so much better than anything DCE has ever produced.

Toovey was a better half I would even take Des over DCE.

I'm not bagging DCE I just think people over rate current players some times.

Never said DCE would become an immortal, highly unlikely.

Just heard on the news - DCE confirmed honoring Titans deal. Anyone else hear it? Did I hear correctly?

That's the Titans his manager and mum nothing yet from DCE he has a game tonight so I hope he is concentrating on that for the moment.

If JT wins a Premiership for the Cows, and adding in his Australian & QLD appearances he'd be in the Immortal voting way before DCE

Which news? Fox sports news reporting The Titans saying he will honour the deal.

Yeah the news I saw this morning is that Henry said that he is expecting DCE to honour the deal. Also the Titans CEO put out a statement stating that Orr stated he was honouring the titans deal (as far as they know).

I reckon if we merge this thread with the other threads on DCE (staying, going, good riddance) it would break the forum record held by Foz!
