The Daly Cherrygraph

Management are making all the right noises about retaining DCE but you've got to wonder if it isn't just a laughable PR exercise to appease the fans who can smell a total balls up when they see one. I believe he could be convinced to stay if we were serious, not that it should ever have gotten this far in the first place under a capable management group playing Russian Roulette with arguably the best young player in the whole NRL.

Anyway, when he does confirm he is leaving those in charge will just throw their hands up and say "we tried everything" - but I doubt too many of us will swallow that one.
I disagree with the Russian Roulette reference. Are you forgetting the song and dance DCE made in the week leading up to the start of the comp? He was obviously looking for the biggest deal possible at the time and didn't care where he got it (he was considering signing with the Sharks - fresh off a spoon and a drugs scandal - or the Titans - at the time mired IN a drugs scandal and going bankrupt .

The club took the offer off the table as it was a distraction for everyone, and was looking to re-open talks when the season was a few weeks old. This is a fairly common practice. In fact most players don't want to be negotiating when the season kicks off. They put it to bed until the dust has settled a little but not DCE/Orr. They were everywhere.

The majority of people on here had had enough of it when the deal was pulled. That is a fact. Go back and read the comments. Then he had a couple of good games and we wished he'd stay. Then what was quite possibly a totally fabricated backflip rumour started and everyone got their hopes up.

If/when the club announces some more decent signings then really we can put this to bed once and for all and collectively move on.

The club seems to want him to stay, otherwise we'd hear more about other halfbacks being linked to us. I imagine that if he doesn't stay some other signings will be announced in the weeks after round 13. We've been fielding strong sides for years, I can't imagine that the club will just meekly sign the crappiest players they can find.

Agreed, Bozo said on the weekend definitively that they have not held talks with any other halfback.
That sounds ridiculous. What club in their right mind would focus solely on getting someone to reneg on a deal? They had previously stated they are looking at other options. I call bull**** on that - sounds like they are trying to keep whatever they are doing on the DL.

It was a strange thing for him to say, Rothfield said that Manly were after a half back from an out of Sydney club and Bozo didn't need to say anything but piped up and said that they had categorically not spoken with any other halfback, which obviously leads to the thought that they are heavily in talks for DCE to stay and you would think that with this being said on Saturday they would be well aware of any property arrangements Cherry-Evans had at this point.
Maybe they HAVE spoken to 5/8's - Carney, Maloney, etc

I find it amusing how people think we must keep DCE at all costs & he is worth every cent when there is a chance he could stay. But when a story breaks that he has bought a house on the Goldie and everyone thinks he is now leaving, he is all of a sudden over rated and not worth the $$.
Fair dinkum some people can be fickle.
I cant speak for the others, but I have always been of the same opinion and stated as much on this forum plenty of times, so it's not fickle, it's just an opinion.

I was hoping that now DCE would announce today given that he has been included in the SOO team and has week off due to injury.

Even if that is an announcement he is leaving, just come out an say it. We are all over this emotional roller coaster of he is staying, then going, then staying, etc...

My fear is that the Manly offer is still sitting there, and DCE is still keeping the door open for this to drag all the way up to Rd13.

If he doesn't say anything before the end of round 13 then of course he's going to the Titans. But if you think there is NO potential for him to change his mind then you clearly haven't been paying attention.

I tend 2 stay away from the media and gossip mongers he has given no indication that he is staying unless you listen 2 the media.

I heard that and thought what the hell are you doing? It seems they have all the eggs in convince DCE 2 change his mind and no plan B ****ing amateurs

You're not willing to buy into the speculation around DCE's future but you have no problem extrapolating from silence to the conclusion that those running the club are amateurs.

Think on your sins.

I have a mans word that's enough for me and I have proof that amateurs are in charge of the club at the moment. I base this on the recruitment for 1 and the undermining of the coach.

Think on your dreams

Either way I will enjoy your post after round 13 or will you still not believe him?

What Joe Kelly said at Albury in the Q & A has so far come to pass. Has that been amateurish?

Also who undermined the coach - the club or the media? You're not buying the backflip speculation but you went all in on the Tooves is getting the sack talk even when the Joe said he's not in the firing line?

Time will tell in the end with all this. For everyone's sake I hope that whatever comes to pass is palatable or this saga will never end.

Dont know if its already been written here but PK said on 360 that Manly met with DCE last week and made him a revised offer but have told him they want an answer by end of this week so they can go into the market if needed.

Have you ever tried putting a bandaid on your tongue? Not that we could afford them. We used to have to make own bandaids with newspaper and Clag.
And I suck at the tipping comp.@:(
Possibly heading towards sardine territory so time to stop.
Peace Manly fans.😀
Yum, I used to like eating Clag. You were rich.

You give Joe far 2 much credit the ball got rolling (if you call it that) when Bozo got involved.

So far we have signed a player with the intention of keeping his "best"mate I wonder how keen we were on Myles before hand?

You quote Joe on Toovey I'll listen 2 the guy who owns the club and employs Joe (who came out 2 days later and contradicted Joe and said he has no guarantee ) I'll also listen 2 the very strong pat on the shoulder from Arko who doesn't say anything without it be well thought out and being in the know.

It is too late. Face it. He is gone.

This whole saga has pushed me to the point of exasperation. Like everyone else I'm just looking forward to the round 13 deadline. I'm trying hard not to write anything negative because experience has taught me it could very well come back and bite me on the arse.
I will say this......it feels like professionalism within the club has really nosedived in the last 6 months.

If round 13 comes and goes with him not having said anything it will be perfectly consistent with what I have said this entire time.

This is my take on it:
I hope that he stays (as you have also said).
There is potential that he will stay.
We will know for sure after round 13.
