Tevita Funa

Funa was shown up by the Fox....like 99% of the NRL
Funa can be a good centre in time but I do agree about a bit more speed outside with a Johnstone type speedster to add to mprove the sluggishness we have seen in 2020
Since Tom has gone the car has gone from a 5 gear to a 3 gear instantly.
Walker though still zippy, has also lost plenty of speed, due to injuries

What's your point. No one is saying Tevita is as fast as Addo-Carr but you're using that as a slight on Tevita... who to me looks a bit faster than Taufua, Parker and Suli if not Garrick as well.

Also two of our quickest players (Tom and Dylan) are also regulars in the injury ward, and also take up a big chunk of the salary cap too.

If you have any suggestions on any sprinters we can get for minimum coin I would like to hear it...

My point feathered friend was to express my point view of you like we all do
Tevita MAYBE a bit faster than Jorge and Parker but both those players are no bench mark for serious speed .
Suggestion for sprinters I dont have time to look for them as I work shift work and look after my elderly parents but there are many great prospects out there in lower grades where good recruitment managers unearth them .
If Bellamy can pull all those unknown speedsters out of his arse and turn them into stars then so can we

Tevita MAYBE a bit faster than Jorge and Parker
I would suggest Funa is much faster - sufficient pace for a power centre in the modern game & capable of scoring a long range try (unlike Brad & Jorge)

Just putting things in perspective Sexy Maxy 🙂
What ever speed Walker has lost he would still be more faster than the lot he have now
Funa at 22 years of age can possibly be a good centre in the future Whilst we have dynamic pacey 19 year olds like Stephen Crichton dominating a game .
Since Tom is gone our wingers and centres look like a one man team and that says something

Plenty of "rights" there My good man Bozo.
Walker still has more zip than Parker , Taufua , Suli and maybe on par with Garrick for pace....so still better speed than what's available THIS weekend.
I do have a theory however, that if you have dominant forward and halves that control a game, your field position will allow a player of Funa's pace to be dangerous and find space and score plenty of tries, our outside men rarely get this service and though you love the magic of young Creighton..as do I....most of his opportunities are off an overlap or put through a gap ect, though agreed he scores the odd try of raw ability and he is a rare talent.
The players like Johnstone, Addo Carr, Jimmy Jet are only a handful who will score 100m tries....most tries are scored within the opposition 40m line.....as an example in Manly's 40 - 0 trampling of Storm in 08 only Bell's try was from half way....the rest from 10m - 30m, so the importance created by the INSIDE men creating the opportunities and as much as faster wingers are great and personally, I would love to see it, would also like our inside men to create a few more opportunities for Garrick and Taufua which are few and far between..

Matai was never the fastest player either but had some toe and acceleration.. i can see comparisons with tevita in that. I think he has the good makings of a centre
Before you have the audacity to compare any one with this Legend
Take a good look of these highlights to remind you just how good he was

The audacity?? Lol
You really know how to blow some comments out of proportion sometimes bozo.. Steve matai was my favourite player for many years. I dont need no reminders. Still doesn't change the fact he wasnt a speed demon.. i don't think skivvy ever scored a runaway try from memory

A bit of banter is always good on here feathered friend 🙂

I saw this great interview by Cuzzo on Funa and his Long and Hard Journey and was impressed by his humility and gratitude and over all his great attitude .
Great Attitude and determination can take one to great heights in life and I wish our Sea eagle 619 all the best .

Flying high ...

Tough day at the office for Tevita and not sure when we see him next but I still think he has a bit to offer. If he'd only kept his eyes on the ball during that leap he would have scored a sensational try, and pretty much put the Knights away.
And how about his big hit on Frizzel? Just about the hit of the week, it was a beauty.

We were in very difficult circumstances on Sunday with Foran and Schuster out. Funa was a somewhat forced gamble that just didn't pay off. I was very surprised with Turbo's meek performance and how much he and the rest of the side missed the creativity of Schuster and Foran. Hopefully we get back to full strength in the next few weeks.
