Tevita Funa

We were in very difficult circumstances on Sunday with Foran and Schuster out. Funa was a somewhat forced gamble that just didn't pay off. I was very surprised with Turbo's meek performance and how much he and the rest of the side missed the creativity of Schuster and Foran. Hopefully we get back to full strength in the next few weeks.
Not sure when Schu was ruled out so a forced gamble it was, no time to get funky and change a few positions to cover one I suppose.

Have seen a posters on here alluding that Turbo didn't have a go.
I thought he was willing but just couldn't crack the line, I put it down to the creativity and timing of Foz and Schu's game which in turn breeds confidence.
Turbo was pushing up as usual but just wasn't quite afforded the space he'd normally get from having a genuine ball player to run off.
He even got a crap pass from Jake that would normally hit the mark.

And being even more heavily marked than normal since his awe inspiring return

I was surprised with Tyfuna was selected to play 5/8. I've seen him play centre, winger and fullback and have a high opinion of him. I think he'll keep improving if given the chance.
What I though would happen would be The Lawman playing 5/8. I've seen vision/highlights of him playing half and 5/8 for the Titans and he looked good.
That would have allowed Tenterfield to start in the second row, but it would have left Suli to play as a forward and relied on Burbo to play a longer stint from the bench.
So, DESpicable made the easiest of switches. Unfortunately, Tyfuna is a runner and not suited to the main role of a 5/8 which is to set up his backline. The decision did not prove successful, but I can understand why DESpicable made it, and I can't be over-critical of it.

Who, (yes I'm talking to you, lol) surely you should not self-typecast as a hatefilled, unforgiving Sea Eagle? Which your use of the 'despicable' moniker indicates.
I say you are far better than that, and this cannot be your DEStiny!
(lol)

I think you will find DCE was meant to play both sides of the field and take a little more control where funa could just play that running five eight role. DCE set up that one try on the left but other than I can't really recall if he continued to rove as we didn't really have the ball much.. or in attacking position to do so

DESpicable is not a name I would use for Des. I do understand why others choose to use it, as arguably it DEScribes pretty accurately how he left us to go to the Bulldogs. Personally I felt DESolate, DESpondent and was in DESpair that his coaching careeer with Manly had been preDEStined to failure, by leaving the club prematurely. Clearly it wasn't all on him, and the club's actions at the time were also DESpicable towards DES. Perhaps it was DES'S DEStiny to return to DEStination Manly. DESpicable or not DES has a second chance to create the Manly legacy he has always DEServed. Go Manly.

Desticle.... no wait 🙂 move on!

Is he the only one. I thought we had a few that might come under scrutiny. A few sailed close to the wind

Def remember the funa one

As there is no reserve grade currently. How does it work.. does he just miss the next 2 games regardless? (Not that he likely would have been picked but)
