Snake is definitely retiring

Out of respect for the person who told me I will not mention any names but Snake is definitely not playing next season. I understand Baz hinted as much last week but the wording still left a degree a possibility but without a shadow of a doubt he will not be playing next season.

The reason this (as well as Skivvy's retirement) hasn't been officially announced is to do with payouts and insurance formalities etc.

So...

For those of you bagging Snake for (a) not allowing the club to use the cap space and (b) for sulking (c) for not giving 100%, you are absolutely out of line. The club is well aware of what is going on and know full well the situation with Snake.

Can I also say that Snake is a diabetic and has chronic injuries and did everything he could last year but the body just wasn't up to it. He is a human being with a set of goals for himself and wanted to play and compete and its easy for us sitting in the stands but he was willing himself to get fit again last season because he desperately wanted to contribute and it just didn't happen for him.

Don't be so hard on one of our greatest players to ever don the jumper.
Perfectly said.
No more to add.

Rip snake. He was a great player. Shame about the injuries and the treatment by the press and NRL.

Snake is the reason I joined Silvertails. Unfortunately this was during the early '09 media head hunt.
Fortunately I discovered that the Silvertails site and members are awesome so I'm still here almost 8 years later.
As for Snake, what a Sea Eagle legend. Total freakish talent and bows out as one of my all time favourites.
Same for his two mates Killer and Matai.
Our success is up to the new breed now.

It's going to be weird next year without Brett, Steve and Jamie. It will probably feel like us bloke fans have undergone sex reassignment surgery in the off season, and we now have to carry on without Snake and a couple of tough nuts.

Reminds me of the old Lano and Woodley routine where Col was growling Frank...

Colin: You’re so dumb, aren’t you? You’re such an idiot. You’re so stupendous!
Frank: Col, I don’t think you know what that word means.
Colin: I know exactly what it means. And you’re just jealous ‘cause you know I’m so much better. You know I’m superfluous!

Speaking from experience Moz?

No. I've never been to Thailand. They tell me some of the "cut n tuck's" over there are hard to spot. Continuing on the path of wrong word usage, rather than investigate the matter further in actuality, I'll leave it to my livid imagination.

lol

For a while, you are right...until the next champions emerge

OK we have TT, DCE, Walker all tried and tested but there's a couple spots vacant and untried combinations. ie have we got a centre as good as Matai or Lyon in our ranks, then there's the Green/DCE combo and missing a Quality winger unless Uate turns up to play.

Barrett would have been in a few St George teams smashed by Manly on the way to a premiership Does that count?
Unfortunately the Dragons were a bogey team for us. Barrett played us 6 times as a Dragon and only lost once.
But if we add his Illawarra and Sharks results against us, it swings dead middle with a 5-5-1 result.
