Signing a coach with basically no first grade experience.

Always risky, agreed. I guess coaches have to cut their teeth somewhere.
If Barrett was any good Gus Gould would have held onto him for first grade

Plus Bozo is a consultant.
Baz needs to work to the strengths of the Team instead of changing every structure.
Once they are confident in each other, the complex moves can be assimilated.
Lozza said that the dropped balls are also due to the unfamiliarity of the players. The player throwing it, does not instictively know who the receiver will be. He thinks its just a matter of time till Manly develop this 🙂

I'm saying Gould released Barrett because he viewed him as a first grade coach, not the other way around

I think you were missing my point in that Gould may have dodged a bullet. Time will tell I guess.
Because he has one of the all time great records. About 46% win rate.
I tend to agree with your sentiment but disagree with the improvement. The basic errors in handling and defence were the same.
The only difference was we scored more points against a poor defensive unit.
And if we are nil from 8 is it " sorry Tooves we made a mistake please come back".....lol......as if by the way!!
Yeah, but some of the better ones had coached in ESL or served long apprenticeships under good senior coaches. Barrett has none of this. What's his coaching CV? Country Coach and a short stint under Cleary. I hope I am wrong and I know I am calling it early but I am picking him to be a dud.

Its widely acknowledged that Stuart basically capitalised on the hard work previously done by Graham Murray and Phil Gould. Plus he had Gus holding his hand for 2-3 years after.
And it's quite possible, although I still predict 3/8, dont know why but just can't see them tossing the towel in totally.
