Q- Hey Lurk you said that playerX might sign with club Y. Nothing has happened, is it still on.
Lurker- Club Y were really keen, but Player X had gone a bit cold on the idea. Still might happen though.
He’s a bottom feeder, who also happens to be a fcuk wit to boot.

I think a fair case could be argued that he is the biggest arse clown.
Mind you plenty of coin would be on weirdler.
I wouldn't mind chucking McClymont in to the mix for a trifecta. Would get some backers in Sea Eagles territory.

Bozo can't be interviewed anymore :rolleyes:

Greenturd will be spewing :D
Question I would ask the NRL is who is there to interview. Penn and Zorba maybe, but everyone else has gone from that period. DCE may be able to remember matters back then, but everyone else has gone. New coach, new CEO, new recruitment officer, other than DCE totally new team. So who is being interviewed, given that this issue is apparently years old. Maybe Foran but that was three years ago. They cant interview people like Matai, the Stewarts, Watmough etc as they are retired and no longer involved in the game. Who's left? This is becoming very silly and embarrassing for the League

This feels like the longest and most drawn out investigation in the history of investigations! Sherlock needs to put a close to this asap. It must be pretty hard to entice a sponsor with shiit stains over your head.

I think it’s disgraceful how mud can be slinged yet, journos simply need to follow up with ‘person x is not accused of any wrong doing’ and end up without any issues.

One of the NRL’s longest-running sagas is set to end within weeks as NSW Police prepare to close the book on the match-fixing investigation.

The Australian understands NSW Police are likely to formally announce the end of the investigation without any charges being laid, removing at least one of the dark clouds hanging over the NRL and Sydney club Manly since last season.

2017-10-17 Former Manly NRL player Brett Stewart wins defamation action over match-fixing claims

Former rugby league player Brett Stewart has won defamation action against News Limited over an article linking him to match-fixing allegations that appeared online for a few hours before it was taken down.
.
.
Police set up Strike Force Nuralda in September 2016 to investigate allegations that six Manly players had been given secret payments of $50,000 to manipulate the outcome of matches, following suspicious games against South Sydney and Parramatta in the 2015 NRL season.

But police discovered no evidence of systemic match-fixing, and turned the focus of their investigation towards an alleged trade in inside information and salary cap breaches.

While detectives from the NSW Organised Crime Squad found no evidence of an organised conspiracy involving players fixing matchers, they did uncover a widespread trade in leaking of inside information from club insiders to punters. This is a criminal offence punishable by up to two years in jail. No charges will be laid as there is a six-month limitation from the date of the alleged offences occurring.

Agree, terrible article. Cast innuendo on Immortal Bob Fulton (who surely wasn't actively involved with the club during the period under investigation) and even slur on Supreme Court Judge Bellew. But it's all fine because 'not suggesting any wrongdoing'. Really then why are they in the stupid story??

If they do find something (fingers crossed they don’t), what would be the punishment likely be? Loss of points for 2018, or only a fine because it is from past seasons???

No loss of points,as the issue seems to be some TPAs with Fiz 3 years ago.

Hard to see the NRL finding anything provable, as the cleared Manly in a Cap Audit just a few months ago @:cool:

. The NRL today responded to the outcome of a police inquiry, which found no evidence of match fixing in the game.

CEO Todd Greenberg said the review should give all fans confidence in the integrity of Rugby League matches.

“It is reassuring to know that, after the most exhaustive police investigation, there is no evidence of match fixing in the NRL,” Mr Greenberg said.

“In fact, no one will be prosecuted as a result of the Strike Force Nuralda investigation.

“While that is pleasing, we will never become complacent and will continue to work with the police to deal with any issues identified which have the potential to compromise the integrity of our sport.

“In particular, we will continue to work with the clubs and players on drug and gambling programs – and to educate players on the need to make the right lifestyle choices.”

Mr Greenberg said the NRL had already:

• Tightened access to dressing rooms to prevent undesirable persons gaining access to players;

• Curtailed the use of telephones by players before and during matches;

• Built the Integrity Unit from scratch to a team of 14, including dedicated investigators and intelligence analysts;

• Developed Integrity Agreements with betting operators to identify wagering risks, and;

• Entered into MoUs with relevant law enforcement agencies to provide information on suspicious and illegal activities, and built strong relationships with the relevant regulators;

Mr Greenberg said the NRL would work with the police on recommendations they have put forward to ensure organised crime does not infiltrate the NRL.

“Our position remains unchanged – if anyone is ever found to be involved in match fixing, they will face a life ban from the game,” he said.

“But the message from this investigation is clear - there is no evidence of match fixing in rugby league and that represents a vote of confidence in our game for our players, fans and clubs.”
