Salary Cap Witch Hunt. **Appeal unsuccessful**

Why pour more $$$ into something that already runs at a loss
I just don't see smart wealthy businessman continuing to pour money in...

Why are they doing it then?
If it's about money they are far too smart to own it in the first place.

If they own it for ego reasons, then yeah, they should cower and subserve.

I hope it's for the same reasons WE are here and they can spot and are up for a good fight.

I know if I had the money I wouldn't give a moment's thought to what it costs.

Agree mate, they have been doing as they please for quite a while now and my posts are mere responses to your written words. Absolutely nothing personal.

If they SAID it, they would be gone.

This fight may not be too long-winded and expensive if the domino's start tumbling and Greenturd chooses to find an "honourable" way to save his face/arse and let us go about our thing, for a short while at least.
I hope so.
The West Coast Eagles, Northern Sydney or Central Coast Eagles is not a brand, it's a cop-out. And many of US would be OUT too.

Our name is our brand, our heart and our financial future. It's priceless.

Only issue I see is if the club has in turn given her benefits of some description, this is a problem.

She is not a sponsor. She is a TPA. TPA's cannot benefit at all from the club. They have their arranged agreement with a player and that is all.

Perhaps there is evidence of the club doing something for this lady and that is why it is being scrutinised....?
The bleeding obvious question is - if the NRL Integrity Unit spend 6 months uncovering potential money trails, why have they not interviewed the people involved, to arrive at their charges against Manly

In Brenda's quote, she clearly states that she communicates with the NRL about her TPA arrangements.
Yet their findings clearly resulted from not interviewing her - WTF?

Maybe she does communicate regularly with the NRL ... But I'm assuming that she was also receiving a perk from the club that the NRL only discovered during the investigation...?
We will never know as their investigations did not actually include interviewing Brenda nor it seems Brookie Mazda 😕

Basically the NRL collected the Manly devices and wrote up an assumption of wrong doings :swear:

I am also now dubious about them looking at the Jokers' devices, as he is with the sombrero mob now.@:mask:

So apparently these "dubious TPAs" were previously rubber stamped by the NRL as being sourced at arm's length. Now they're not? That puts into question the integrity of the NRL system if they got that wrong.. Well let's go back and review under forensic investigations all previously approved TPAs by NRL for any further "indiscretions" in the comp.. Imagine the sh-it storm and sewerage that would be unearthed. What pisses me off is the Maloney deal was so blatantly a breach but nothing happened. It just proves how corrupt and inequitable the NRL is.. Bring on a royal commission.

It is understood the NRL was unable to trace any illegal payments. However, after trawling through thousands of emails and text messages, the governing body will allege that some of the supposed introductions made should be counted against the cap, even when deals ultimately weren't done.
FMD,the bull**** meter can't take much more of this

Webby has just stated on The Big Sports Breakfast, that Manly are very very confident that what they have done is within the rules, its the NRL that don't know what their own rules are. Manly are also very upset about the NRL leaking all the info to the media.

I cant wait for this to blow up in Greenturds face, but I am getting more confident that it is going to.

Are these guys for real?

The NRL will allege that players were taken off the open market over alleged TPA "promises", whether they were fulfilled or otherwise.

The NRL are worried about our relationship with Brookvale Mazda ?

Has anyone at HQ bothered to make a link with City Ford and the Roosters ?

Absolutely laughable stuff.

The NRL has explored this issue thoroughly with Nick.

Nick has explained to Todd that when he wears his Roosters "hat", he can act at arms length to when he wears his City Ford "hat". He said he has had some very tense negotiations with himself in those capacities.

Todd laughed and said to Nick "as if anybody would believe that. You don't wear a hat, you wear a Sombrero!"

But being smart businessman is the concern I have. What benefit do wealthy businessman have by going to war with the League? Why pour more $$$ into something that already runs at a loss, has fewer members than 14 other clubs and draws one of the smallest home crowd (Brookie) averages in the league. And challenging the NRL just for the sake of clearing up some $80k tpas? I don't think it's smart. Especially when the NRL are the law. At the end of the day the NRL can still turn around and say they are doing what they want and no one can hold them accountable.

I'm all for what you just wrote Kev but I just don't see smart wealthy businessman continuing to pour money in...
Would it be possible that Penn's legal team are fulltime employees of the Penn family. They have several business interests so maybe these lawyers are on salary

The more this reads the more it’s looking like a stich up at any cost.

Talk about drawing at straws.

The laughable thing is we know, and every fan knows, that this TPA thing is a gigantic Rort at maybe 4 or 5 clubs, and to a lesser extent a Rort at the rest.

But oh no , let’s not pick say the Roosters to go after, let’s pick one of the lesser clubs, that might have just a minor Rort, and hope like **** they just roll over!!

Oh yes it’s a witch hunt that’s for sure.

In order for that to happen, Manly need an ally in the media that is willing to take that side. Who will look at Manlys case and say they are right and challenge the NRL to prove their case. I don’t think that person exists.

Not sure if there are still any issues with Kelly and Bare but on present indications the whole matter just seems to be approaching farcical territory and real Salem witch hunt proportions , Maybe there are are elements in the N R L who do not necessarily wish to destroy Manly as a club but have an agenda to simply damage its brand and reputation to reduce its competitive playing capacity . And now some N R L officials almost in desperation mode to justify their actions . Some sympathetic attention from parts of the media would be very helpful and the direction that this matter seems to be heading could offer some prospects there . Pretty disgraceful reflection on elements of the N R l and waste of resources in general and Manly and Penn have again been disadvantaged . The N R L really should not be allowed to get away with it .
