Don't know about you but if my organisation was suddenly being investigated for something I would be most unhappy if investigators turned up at my house wanting to walk off with my personal computers and phones. And I'd be amazed if they could.

If there is a specific personage under suspicion then say so and direct the investigation in their direction (so if such a person actually exists they can smoothly step back a la Andrew Gee, and there endeth the investigation).
When the donkeys were under investigation with allegations about their rorting of the cap, very quickly it was closed down and Andrew Gee was alleged to be involved with this. If the NRL has a suspect in our case, surely would it not be easier to question that individual or individuals and get this all done rather than a full blown investigation that is based on hearsay. The club is cooperating with this enquiry and there should be an injunction put on the trolls in the press who are reporting untruths about this process.

Gee resigned and that meant the NRL suddenly had no power to investigate him.

"Gee has been a mysterious figure for the past nine months as he moved into work in the property market but he will reconnect with the Broncos when he attends the club’s season launch at City Hall on Friday night. Gee, a Broncos life member and former Leagues Club director, has not told anyone what he knows about the $300,000 that went missing from the Leagues Club’s accounts last year and he declined to co-operate with the NRL Integrity Unit...

"...An NRL investigation cleared Brisbane of having knowledge of wrong doing in their salary cap saga but the fact remains a significant amount of money went missing from the Broncos Leagues Club accounts then reappeared in full."

This is truly a witch hunt. The fact of the matter is that they have no evidence whatsoever. Now for the NRL to request personal equipment / laptops goes far beyond the scope of any normal investigation. The manly management should stand firm because if this ever went to court, if it even made it that far, would be thrown out in an instant because the turds are on a "fishing expedition". They need to be very specific in their investigations and what they are requesting. So basically they are requesting personal laptops to just try to fish out any other non related scandal just to justify all this bullying. IMO manly should seriously take legal action for defamation and abuse of power. It's not just bringing the manly brand down the gutter but the whole NRL into disrepute. Hopefully it will stop all these snake skinned so called 'reporters' from ever writing again. If we have rorted the system we should be punished. But there should be due process and the NRL should be seen as impartial and carrying this out discretely and not feeding bananas to the monkeys at the media circus. Despite other clubs also being implicated, we have already been tried, crucified and atoning for the sins of others... Sorry had to throw in a biblical reference in there somewhere. But am really over it!

This investigation is a load of **** and innuendo. They've got nothing so they leak stories which are BS or used to intimidate.

I don't understand the refusal to hand over phones and laptops if there is nothing to hide.

Just do it and be done with it.

The article says that they are personal phones and computers - not the property of the club.

Hypothetical situation:

Your employer is being examined by a third party who aren't the Police. That third party asks your employer to access the personal property of its employees.

Even if your employer agreed to that request:
- Can your employer even legally grant that third party access to their employees personal property?
- Would you agree to surrender your personal property to that third party, if you are not legally required to?
- Would you trust that third party - who again, aren't the police - with access to your belongings?

Not an expert but I suspect the answer to all of the above questions would be no.

If they confiscate the computers of any business how can that business continue to operate?
Every business revolves around their computers. I can only image that any business would have to close until the computers are returned.

There has been so much written about this and known enemies of our club like Rothtool are revelling in this.

This stinks to high hell. Just last year the RTool had money deposited into his gambling account by that crook Hayson, with RTool admitting they were good mates. Surely that issue is worthy of the police and intergrity unit's time, as that will be the path to corruption in the game.

Exactly, and what do expect to find on a computer, anyway?
Instead they should be scouring all the car parks looking for brown paper bags. Yep, the NRL should arrange an emu parade.

I have the following inside information, the source shall remain a secret.

All COMPANY phones, laptops, PC's, IPads whatever have been freely made available.

The auditors then requested access to every staff members home PC, wives or partners phones , iPads , laptops, kids phones, in essence every single device owned or used personally by every staff member and their entire family.

The company can't ask their staff for these private devices, neither can the auditors SO the request was refused.

If this was a criminal case then the Police could obtain all these.

@SeaEagleRock8 knows a lot more about the laws here than I do, he might like to explain.

They can get stuffed.

Stuff I don't understand:
1. The job of the NRL is to provide a product to television. Why are they attempting to damage that product?
2. They're not the police, so what power do they have?
3. Why is the rugby league media so much worse than almost any other sport in questioning the operation of their sport?
4. How does Day One of an investigation have leaks?
5. Why does no one question the source of the leaks?
There's something really rotten in this sport. Right from the very top. Do they not realise they're in a fight for their very existence?

As @niccipops suggested i would be straight onto the union.

I would still hand it over in all likelyhood. If you have nothing to hide there is no issue.

The fact that that it might help an investigation and help incriminate people doing the wrong thing would be enough motivation for me.

God, if they took my computer, they'd need to run Spyhunter straight after for all the malware from youporn, pornhub, xnxx, youjizz would throw onto the NRL's network.

My computer is like Montgomery Burns. So much Porn malware, that it balances itself out, and will never die !!

Good luck NRL !

Not so sure. They have an investigation that's leaking like a sieve. What if you have personal details on your phone that you don't want leaked - something even as innocent as texts between you and your partner about your kid being bullied at school? Not anyone's damned business, especially an organisation with leaks.

So what, hand them over.

Get it done.
There was a complete cleanout of Staff after 2v left.

Most current employees are new and their private lives aren't for perusal by non law enforecement groups.:shake:

As Manly is privately owned, one would assume all payments are now handled by the Penn owned majority shareholder Company. NRL did audit this just last month.

The Crime Commission handed over the details of the alleged payments.
But if that person is no longer/was never a MSE employee, then the NRL has no rights (see Gee precedent) @

The Manly Staff are aware of the media attacks on the Club and the past players acused of the now cleared match fixing.
Why would they risk the NRL leaking personal info about them to the smh

Even in a court of law, the privilege against self- incrimination entitles a person to refuse to talk :)
