Salary Cap Witch Hunt. **Appeal unsuccessful**

One of my sources (who is a Board member at another club) said to me that the final report has been submitted to the NRL from the committee that sat through the appeal. Evidently it was rather damming about the processes and terminologies of what is and ain't a TPA under law used by the NRL, and that the NRL had to revisit it's rules. His thoughts were that the delay is in the fact that the NRL have to find a positive solution (were they save face) but then introduce the new code for all clubs to follow. They would make that announcement simultaneously.

As with anything with the NRL this could take forever as anything they change will need legal checking so the NRL don't have the same issues. So very unlikely #next week, will become #next few months.

Anyway we are screwed anyway.

Sounds like the Draft then. It takes someone to challenge and only then does the League HQ seek to tie down the legalities 😕

To think that this all started with Fiz and his unsavoury friends.

Then the full weight of Nuralda was pitted against Manly, only for that to clear us of Match Fixing allegations.

Then the Police leaking info to the NRL to instigate the Cap management at Manly.

Then Manly being labeled Cheats and the Immortal's banishment for the League by Greenturd

Then all of Manly's resources needing to be diverted to appeal the NRL findings

No wonder everyone at Manly is drained by this whole contrived fiasco 😡

Proud of Manly for hanging in there and fighting for our good name :inlove:

Sounds feasible, however the nrl should at least let Manly know that the salary cap penalties no longer apply so they can recruit etc. to leave Manly hanging whilst the nrl sort their s**t out is hardly fair and we are being penalised for something we are not guilty of.

Exactly. NRL will continue to hang us out to dry while they find a way to paint this in positive light. I've no doubt that this has derailed our season by limiting our chances in recruiting a replacement for Blake Green. The damage has been done. It's now a matter of salvaging what we can for next year, or even the year after that.

If this is correct .... and there is a suspension or a reduction in any salary cap penalty likely ... one would think the honourable thing would be for Toddy GreenTurd to privately advise Manly to carry on any negotiations ... but please keep quite until the official announcement ...

... but I suppose that would require integrity as opposed to intoddgrity ...

Player managers are pretty hopeless at keeping anything quiet so would be hard for Todd to keep it under wraps.

Also he probably isn’t in their good books after coming down hard on them from Parra salary cap rort. Oh wait....

Kind of explains scramble for recent signings before the rules are changed eg. The Rorters sombrero!

Beattie does not instill any confidence in me whatsoever. Listening to him rationalizing a strategy to grow the game in Europe during a recent television interview sent shivers up my spine. It was pie in the sky stuff with no identifiable strategic plan. To me it was comparable to Toddy's rationale of playing the game in big empty stadiums rather than taking the game to the fans in their homelands. Before thinking about growing the game overseas we need to fix up the mess in our own back yard. And if they think all is good in our backyard at present they have lost the plot.

What do the members of the NRL Commission do to justify their salaries?

On their web site it states:

"How the Commission Works

The ARL Commission is the existing ARL corporate entity with an entirely new constitution and regulatory framework.

The Objects of the ARL Commission are listed in its constitution:

The primary objects of the Company are to:

  1. be the single controlling body and administrator of the Game;
  2. foster, develop, extend and provide adequate funding for the Game from the junior to elite levels and generally to act in the best interests of the Game;
  3. liaise with and delegate appropriate functions to governing bodies of the Game in the States and Territories of Australia, including the NSWRL and QRL;
  4. organise and conduct all State of Origin and Australian Representative Games;
  5. organise, conduct and foster the NRL Competition;
  6. liaise with the Rugby League International Federation Limited and organisations controlling the game in other countries in the fostering and control of the game of Rugby League throughout the world;
  7. promote and encourage either directly or indirectly the physical, cultural and intellectual welfare of young people in the community and, in particular, the Rugby League community;
  8. promote and encourage either directly or indirectly sport and recreation, particularly Rugby League football, in the interests of the social welfare of young persons. The NSW, Queensland and Country Rugby Leagues remain separate entities under the Commission."
Seems to me all they do is let Toddy run a muck and do and say whatever he likes.

So, if all goes Manly's way does that mean the club will be able to spend $300,000 more than the salary cap for 2019, to make up for the club being docked by that amount this season?
that would seem only fair and if it was otherwise would just be a further example of old Octoberg displaying more " intodrety"
