Aaron Woods, Nathan Brown, Matt Lodge, and kept guys like Sipley, Croker, and Aloiai
You, and plenty of others such as
@susan make a great point about Manly's recruitment, it's been mediocre.
Not as bad as some suggest though, for example the 2 young props we let go to get Woods for free have done zero, I think they disappeared without trace, whereas Woods was at least able to churn out some minutes in NRL.
Brown and Lodge were other minimum wage players who actually added something on occasion but missed plenty of games with injury. Retaining Croker & Aloia looks dumb but was probably partly due to club or squad culture reasons, and it's hard to predict who will miss the season due to injury.
So I'm not as fussed as others about the age of the recruits, but agree the style is all wrong for modern game. Sipley the best example, a good player, could have had a role even in our 2011 type successful teams but simply not agile enough for today's game. Looks fitter than ever but still a pace off the mark, so releasing him is a smart move.
There's only a small number of coaches that can attract talent and they tend to work at rich clubs. Seibold's fault? Sure but ... may as well say Manly has to be a richer club.
Regardless of who is coach next year I expect we'll start to introduce 2 or 3 speedier forwards with better stamina and agility - probably ones we already have on the books. Sadly (for them) I've got fingers crossed that Aloia and Croker both retire
