Round 9 other games (2018)

Dragons hold the Storm to 30m gained off their tryline after 5 tackles.....no penalty to the Storm...
I'm confused NRL, I thought this was illegal play by the Dragons (based off Manly games anyway.)

That's exactly the point @Mark from Brisbane . The game against the Tigpies was a classic example of what you're saying. We were refereed out of that game in the first 15 minutes. Penalty after penalty to Wests had us going backwards after doing well to pin them in their 20 for the first set of the match. And once they scored, once, twice, and got their tails up.....the game was gone. When we got out first penalty about 14 minutes in it was on the first tackle about 10 metres out from our own line. It was just about the first time we had touched the ball all game.

And the worst part was that even the media saw and pointed out that the early penalties, especially the so-called offsides, were complete BS. And for them to point out that Manly were hard done by shows just how bad its gotten with the NRL referees. The refs had us back 12-13 metres and were STILL calling us offside. And when you're getting hammered like that and the opposition gets an early roll on, a lot of the times it can be nigh on impossible to get back into the game and it just gets worse and worse like it did to us that day.

For years the media have been saying that a referee blunder will decide a Grand Final. Well that ship sailed LONG ago and if you notice with the way the refs are today.....the references to a referee error influencing the outcome of a game have become less and less because its not just happening in GF's any more, its happening just about every game and shock horror, its the same teams who get the benefit just about every time.

So.... when are you allowed to start running up in defence?

Sometimes it is as soon as the attacker plays the ball with their foot, other times it seems they have to wait until the dummy half passes.

so "clearing the ruck" - when is that?

When the ball clears the ruck, not when you place your foot on it. So effectively you are alllowed to leave as the dummy half picks it up .Thats what the clowns are in about this year.Sure we get some bad ones , as do quite a few sides, but it ain’t an excuse to play like we do each week. Plenty of teams are playing under adversity ( see Pentrith) and have a dig. We just find it all to hard and roll over. It’s simply attitude.

crowd the unofficial 3rd ref today.

These refs are all over the place. Over-ruled themselves on a dragons knock on, missed a smith knock on, touchie didn't call a forward pass until the crowd let everyone know....

Crowd is having a big influence on the refs and penalties today, but I guess that’s nothing new!!

There are some funny things going on with the officiating in this Goons Drizzle game. A lot of hesitancy, changes of mind and very late calls. They seem to lack control of the game and being completely reactive.

Hmmmm shock horror it seems that Bulldogs coach Dean Pay is likely to escape a fine for his comments about the referees on Thursday night.

Greenturd playing favourites?

Thanks "Sue".

It's really weird.

Storm score then the refs bring it back for a 'play the ball' penalty.

First time in a long time I have seen Melb on the arse end of a series of bad calls.
Pity the Dragons cant hang on to the damn ball.

Yeah, nice to see the Drizzle copping the arse end of ref calls for a change BUUUUUT..... as a neutral fan it's a f**king shambles to watch and disgusting officiating.
