Round 9 other games (2018)

That 2 minute patch involving the blatant knock on, into the weird penalty against Morris was the worst I’ve seen since the 2013 GF ....shocking.
Penalty to Boyd on FT was also sad and have seen far worse let go, let alone decide a game.
And you know what the NRL we say "nothing to see here, will sweep in under the carpet " Now if that was and we under those circumstances against the broncos the media would be baying for blood on some of those decisions".
Very soft referring performance tonight.

I'm still dumb-founded by that knock-on no call... perhaps I need to watch it again, but my initial thought watching it live was a pretty obvious knock-on... and especially when you take into account the context of how refs have been interpreting just about any dropped ball of recent years.

Bulldogs got stitched up tonight. So sick of the poor referring these days deciding matches. Our game has never been so hard to watch. Dean pay really ripped into the refs post match interview, probably cop a fine. Completely justified. Shocking calls including that last one. Bearly touched him with two fingers

Bad refereeing we cant control . No team can and every team gets the bad calls .
Refs like anyone else will make an error here and there .
What we can control is discipline play and ball control . Once that is achieved then we have just about controlled our own destiny .
Excuses don't bring results only solutions do
Less whinging and more focusing on what we can do better and improve as a team

Agree 100%, Bozo. That's the attitude I hope our players and coaching staff take into every game and never use poor officiating as an excuse. Having said that, fans will vent (and that's fine with me). One just needs to distinguish between a fan venting, and one having a valuable or insightful opinion. 🙂

Well said and putting thing into perspective HKE . My ex was one hell of a venter . We all have our moments mate but She was relentless .

Just watched the game and lol..... some dud calls there!

2 (Manly) things if this game was played at Brookie etc etc....

The sports hacks and greenburg would be filling the sports pages about how substandard and dangerous the playing surface was and hence we should move from Brookie, and if Barrett said what Dean Pay said, g'burg would not only fine him at least 10k but would launch into his rhetoric of "grow up" and "talk the game up" and would probably push for a greater fine.

Now... maybe it was too late for the 'papers' to have written about it (dying medium and all) but I haven't seen anything about the crap surface or potential fines, unless I missed it?

Wow that 79th minute decision was disgusting.

How can you possibly let a game be decided by a pencil pusher rule like that. Use your judgement refs FFS - Boy'd had no chance of getting that ball.

It just goes along with the conspiracy theory that the NRL are supporting their cash cows. Keep Suncrap stadium filled. These 50-50's always go against the Sydney teams - unless from the golden West.

Bulldogs were deifintely Boy'd last night!.

The Broncos have been gifted 4 points this season - against the Tigers and the Bulldogs. As people have already mentioned, it is getting harder and harder to take the game seriously. I know we joke about corruption, but sheesh...

RL is getting more like soccer by the year, where the biggest actors are rewarded handsomely for their efforts. That penalty at the end was a joke, up there with Grub Slater's two efforts already this season. How you can gift a side two competition points on a decision like that ??

If we can get through this weekend without any injuries and Walks can have a solid game at 5/8 I like our chances against the Donkeys for some reason.

And the state of the field is abominable at suncorp but yeah the commentators were giving every excuse available for it, I wonder how many ACL's have been done there?

I thought the last penelty was fair. Clearly pushed him. Some of the other calls were shockers. That no knock on was a beauty.

I hate to say it but I agree. Oh sure the penalty was soft as hell, but the rule is that while you can bump or shoulder a player out of the way, you can't grab or push them. Boyd unfortunately was pushed.

The others though......how they let go a clear cut knock on is beyond me. And the penalty against Josh Morris for running a player off the ball.....the replay clearly showed that they had actually gone about 5 metres past the ball. That was a joke penalty.

Yep, I could not fathom that one at the time. Absolute freebee that.influenced the game.

And then to add insult to injury, when stand-in captain David Klemmer tried to speak to the ref about it they got marched another 10 which put the Donkeys within kicking range.

That is one of the things I like about having DCE as captain. In those situations he tends to have a cooler head on his shoulders. And I am sorry to say but I think that if it was Jake Trbojevic in that situation he probably would have been sin-binned because we've all seen him go off at refs.

Passion in a player is great. But there is a time and place for it and the time not to do it is when talking to the refs. Its a no win situation.

Some 'experts' have defended the last minute penalty for "pushing". I disagree. The refereeing should have seen that it was a reflex action that didn't alter the outcome. Bennett's love child would never have got to the ball. The ref's decision gifted the Donkeys the win. Just another example of refs not having a 'feel' for the match. He should have realised that the Donkeys would have got the ball back through a goal line dropout because it was made dead by the Dogs. That would have given the Donkeys ample opportunity to seal a late win via a try or a field goal.
While I was hoping for a Donkeys win, purely because it keeps the Dogs in the race for the spoon with us, there is definite bias towards the Donkeys. The NRL needs Brisbane in the finals, and although I detest the Dogs almost as much as I do Doesn'tmatta, I agree that they were just the latest victim of an NRL agenda to keep Brisbane strong.
This sport is now as crooked as Paul Gallen's nose.

It's ok everyone. Ref boss (and brother of other ref) sutton has come out and said the refs got every call correct.
