Yeah those ones we haven’t seen could be kept , I’m really talking Sirro , Boyle , GoJetSki, Tafua and probably FunaSurely groom Koula long term as a centre,/winger and fullback backup.
Garrick is certainly not the answer.
Our retention feels like it is sorted. Our young forwards are looking like the next crew to take us to another premiership and we have young backs looking to step up in the same way.
Hooker may be the only position that we need to look to bolster
Walker does cover a lot of positions….. but none of them well!I think he’s a good cover for a lot of positions ( maybe not 7).
I love Shuster on the edge. Big mobile body who adds that ball playing ability. The parra game was a good example, tore them to shreds and gives quality ball to the outside backs and can defend. Love Lawton as the utility, covers so many positions well and is just a solid hard working footy player.Agree that 17 is probably our strongest out of current squad more or less. I'd probably start Vera and play Marty off the bench. Stagger him and Paseka to maintain that punch through the middle.
Only thing I'm not convinced on is I don't think Des is big on Walker going back to centre. He hasn't played him there all year from memory and same last season. I know he was covering fullback in his first stint, but he seems content on playing him off the bench since his return. Maybe the litmus test will be when Schuster is back, as I think that Shoe or Lawton then become the bench utility. Where will that leave Dylan ?? Do you think Des drops Parker or Harper to keep Walker in the 17 ?? Be a big indicator of whether Walker gets a contract extension - seeing as both Parker and Harper have been shown some love.
Team selections over the next couple of weeks will be interesting as we get troops back

just sayin’
Hooker only position we need to bolster?
Who else would u propose on top of Cust, Croker, Lawton as backup to Fainu?
If it wasn’t for his own indiscretions he would probably still be playing there!Gotta feel for Walker as he is the only specialist centre that hasn't played there since like 2017.
Albert Hopoate is off contract He can't get a start at Canberra despite there being plenty of other rookies getting a crack, Valemi, Timoko, Kris, Savage etc and they've all been resigned. I'd say he is surplus to Sticky's requirementsFullback is obvious but we won’t get a good one.
Duffy Off to bulldogs next yearOf the remaining six players:
Boyle, JetSki and Jorge are easy decisions to move on.
Funa I could take or leave. He’s a solid enough back up, wouldn’t be paying him anymore than he’s on now though and would probably make the final call towards the end of pre-season.
Walker: I’d like to see him starting in the centres. Are we going to find a Strike Centre from elsewhere? No… Re-sign him at the right price.
Sir Gone
Looking at who is off contract and who might benefit our side. It’s a bit of a bargain bin
Will Hopoate: Not in huge demand. Won’t be at the dogs next year and only the dragons reportedly interested. He’s a slight upgrade on either of our starting centres and a better back up hooker than Garrick. At 29 in a better side he would have another couple of good years in him. At the right price it’s a yes from me.
Kurt Mann: Similar to above but probably not as good in the centres as hoppa.
Dylan Napa or Aaron Woods: Both being shopped around for sub $300K. Both will offer more than Siro at a more reasonable price. Former state of origin forwards who I think would thrive in a winning side. I’d take one of them, again if price is right.
Matt Dufty: The best fullback on the market right now. Seems unwanted by anyone. Can’t see him coming to play for Blacktown but he may have no other option. Don’t rule it out.
Tyrone Peachey: Could fit nicely into the left edge and also offers some utility value. Might be a bit expensive for what he’d add to the side though.
Bryce Cartwright: Basically the same as Peachey above but cheaper with more risk.
I'd take Parker and Harper over hopoate any dayOf the remaining six players:

1961 model a great year 👍. Killing me not going to gym with effing lockdown. Have lost 3kgs already and it has only been 2 weeks so far. I’m a bit hairier than that 🤭The moral of the recruitment and retention story is
There is always room for improvement in our cap roaster
Contentment breeds complacency and comfort zones stalls progression
For those that are passionate about training in the gym they would understand
what challenging your self to keep improving means there are no limits to excellence
This no limits to excellence applies to our playing roster . In order to keep up with the best teams we should keep raising the bar of excellence on every position on the field .
Raising the bar does not always mean raising the dollar to attract better value players
As value is not always the highest price but the higher quality performance value player
Contentment breeds complacency and comfort zones stalls progression
I turn 60 years of age this month and I am an example of what striving for excellence is as I keep putting complacent comfort zone 20 year old to shame in both body and performance
I hope I can inspire all the mature Silvertails on here that
We are not our age.... We are our ENERGY
So let us all get ENERGISED and eat healthy and hit the Gym and give those young punks a run for their money !!!

Raiders have had also sorts of problems at fullback and yet he doesn’t get a run. Alarm bells are ringing. He ain’t that good.Albert Hopoate is off contract He can't get a start at Canberra despite there being plenty of other rookies getting a crack, Valemi, Timoko, Kris, Savage etc and they've all been resigned. I'm not sure what his NSW Cup form has been like since coming back from injury. I'm sure John will be able to charm his way through some negotiation and bring Albert home. May have to lower his asking price though
