PRE-GAME DISCUSSION: Storm v Manly [Round 19, 2019]

It’s a more interesting narrative to think that Parker forced his way back because he is “one of the best defensive centres in the comp” lol...the reality is Cust was dropped and that is how Parker found a way back. Cust was cleared to play well before last week’s game.

Parker has improved but still makes too many errors in attack for the upside that he offers. Against quality teams, we cannot afford his 2 drops a game. Des will not tolerate it and Parker will end up at the Tigers next year.
Thats because cust is ****

The Storm have rested their players before this clash . They know they would be in for a tough match against us .
We are not flying over to Melbourne for a cafe latte , We are flying over for a win and we will get it
It will be interesting to see how they handle Tommy and how he can overcome it if the referees are fair then we should own the ruck.. though i fear sCam will do as arko said and slow it down to a snail's pace

I see this game as a semi final game rehearsal

We have shown through out the year that we are capable of winning games under adversity and winning under adversity builds character and resilience

We have proven to have the qualities of a great team .

We just have to put it all together against the Storm and we will beat both them and Cams ref assistants

Much has been documented about the slowing down of the game and the refs will be under the spotlight .

Cam has missed a grand final though foul play before so he is not the protected Koala that most think he is .

It has always been us against the rest though out the history of our successful years and this year is no different because ....

No great leaders send their men to battle with reasons why they will suffer defeat .

Great leaders prepare their men into battle with a never say die win at all costs attitude .

A team with that attitude and determination is very hard to beat

The ball is in our court

when you're old and retired you can watch it 24/7 .... bloody tiring though

Tiring is a good thing as it builds stamina and will put you in good stead for years to come feathered friend

You are never too old .....

You are only as old as what you hold !

Keep up the great work feathered friend .

Some times Sea eagles do fly solo

@Paw93
Sorry dude, but I know he was cleared and Des went with Walker.

Des is the master and he spots things that aren’t working, even though it looks OK to the average punter. Cust was losing his way somewhat. It doesn’t mean he won’t be back at some stage, but he was overlooked on the weekend.

If Des was simply resting him, he would be playing 6 this week. You want a spine to click before the finals and build combinations, not sit a guy out for a fortnight who has only played 5 games without his teammates.
I know you're not the biggest fan of Cust so assumed it was your opinion and not insider knowledge. If true, it does worry me a little that we can't firm up a halves option so close to the end of the season.

Any idea on if Croker will slot right back in at 5/8 once Api is back at 9 and Fainu on the bench?

Parker certainly has fixed up his errors this year. Apart from the 2 last week (after a long break with injury) he has been very safe up until his injury. Des obviously seen the Cust Walker combo on the left wasnt working in both attack and defence and made the change accordingly. Despite what some think Walker has been a defensive liability and I strongly believe that this had an impact on the decision to play walker at 5.8 and bring Parker back to centre

This week will be the real test if Walker can work in the halves.

Depending on how Walker goes at 5/8, I have a suspicion that other than maybe Api, and barring injury or suspension, the way we line up 1-13 tomorrow night is how its likely to be for the rest of the year. When Api returns I can currently see Croker and Cust being the ones who miss out.

The issue is that we've got three centres, Walker, Suli and Parker, who are playing well but we've only got two centre positions which (right now at least) see's Walker playing in the halves again.

So bellyache thinks Krilich is jealous of sCam:

Hope this fires up the boys and someone flattens the pretender.
"He has got a good relationship with referees and that is probably the thing"
I guess he's just a really nice guy then @

Yes totally agree, look Bellache has a great record as a coach but as a player he wouldn’t be able to tie up Max’s bootlaces

Check out the history books Belly Max has not got no need to be jealous of Scam. Max only signed one contract, was respected by the whole RL fraternity - a bit of respect is required

I don’t mind Cust but I do think his defence is a problem at this stage. His attack was fine in spite of his mistakes, he was having a crack and all young players make errors when they are new to FG. However, to be any chance at the business end of the year, you can’t have teams pulling apart edges and going back there for repeat success. It was obvious that Souths targeted him in their game plan to good effect. The centres and wingers are usually the collateral damage of defenders inside.

I think Cust will be back at some stage...if Walker holds his own, it might be next year for Cade but injuries and form could mean he features again this year. I loved Walker’s game on Sunday but the chances of him doing it consistently are long odds. Fingers crossed.

I know Api is an outside chance for next week (ankle still in brace to restrict movement) but more likely the week after and no decision has been made to move Croker to 6 when Koroisau returns. Form and injuries will reveal the answer to that question over the next two weeks. One things for sure, it’ll make for interesting viewing.
