Our defence has definitely become a lot stronger this year. Teams are no longer breaking the line almost at will against Manly like they were, especially the way it was in the back half of last year. But, we do need to learn how to defend kicks a lot better. The Tigpies, Chooks, Warriors, St Merge.....most of their tries against us came from kicks.

Our defence has definitely improved, in no way was I knocking our defence, it has had that steely resolve and we are not leaking any breaks like we were, my point was that with the Raiders back 5, they are certainly going to pressure us and likely get through so while we can rely to some extent on our defence, we still need to score some more points. I agree with the kicks, we have to do better defending them.

As you said, Garrick has the speed, just need to find the space.

If we play a tight grafting game with minimal critical errors and DCE has a blinder with his kicking game IMO the Raiders will get frustrated and implode. If we are tired after last week and are off our game then it could be a very tough afternoon.

Actually a lot of forumers said he was quick and evasive and a try scorer. Yet to see any evidence of that yet!

I’d wager 90% of his tries at previous clubs came from flopping over the line as a winger at the end of a backline move
The good thing about him is he slots into our structures fine. All he lacks is speed, or at least support up the middle (as we he hasn’t put himself in a position to showcase his speed). Has some good fullback returns which is probably enough for now

I think when it comes to NRL refs, its like this.

Dropped is dropped from NRL to NSW Cup (or Qld Cup)

Demoted looks like it goes - Main ref to pocket ref. Pocket ref to touch judge. Touch judge to NSW or Qld Cup, the last one effectively being dropped.

Munro was the main ref last Saturday in Wollongong, but only the pocket ref last night in Melbourne. Not sure why they would have him listed as a touch judge for Sunday at Brookie though.

We will have had more recovery time than Canberra. I don’t think we have had a short turnaround yet.

As HAPPILYMANLY pointed out at Post #23 to this thread, at https://www.nrl.com/operations/the-officials/ when you open up the Sideline Officials window, there is a Touch Judge named David Ryan so maybe the NRL just had a typo when they compiled their list of Match Officials for our game on Sunday and accidentally put David Munro's name down in place of David Ryan's.

Unless they change the listing on the website, I guess we'll find out on Sunday. But in all honesty I think it probably is just an error in their listings. The only times refs really do more than one game is when they are also in the bunker.

Do Refs ever get dropped to touch judges ?
Seems bizarre ti be a Ref and a touch judge in the same round

Let's hope Brad has been drinking his giant's milk this week!
