PRE-GAME DISCUSSION: Knights v Manly [Round 12, 2021]

You may be correct ...just think he has the size and is a good defender .. plus with Guacamole, Schuster, Keppie and even Lawton going so well on the edges ... Dessie may wish to re-invent Siro and his career ... I hope so ... interested to see how Siro would go in the middle ...
When I take of my anti Mister Woodsie glasses - this is not a such bad idea. Siro might kill it playing in the middle under the new rules. He's got a massive motor. Could become a Christian Welch prototype.

Heard some whispers of a possible Ben T debut this weekend. Makes sense because originally Siro wasn’t meant to come back until after the bye but I think they’ve tried to rush him in with Haumole out. I assume they’re going to wait and see if Curtis passes the fitness tests first. Because if he doesn’t, they have no choice but to choose Ben T - he’s our only fit forward left in our entire top 30 that isn’t already in the 17!!!

Sironen is returning earlier than expected and today, James Rahme said his fitness will be tested later in the week. I wonder if he is actually fit to play and if his selection for Sunday's game is a smokescreen for Burbo who is the next forward in line? I guess we'll find out on Saturday (or Sunday).

Edit: just saw that @ellakasmar has made a similar post to mine. I'll leave mine intact....

Would be a good game for his debut, knights ain’t melbourne.

It seems normal to hide a debutante like this.

This would be a good game for Burbo to get a start , no enormous pressure , and failing a disaster likely to get 10 minutes at the end.
Hope you are right there Mark. Been looking forward to this kid debuting as I am sure will be his two big brothers. Fingers crossed. If the case, then our bench would likely be Sips, Saddler, Benny and Suli. Not bad at all. Nice.

Another game where our forwards will need to step up hugely. Somewhat of a danger game this one after last week and with more guys out it will be a challenge for our forwards. Our pack seems to face more challenges every week but I’m confident they can manage this one. I’d like to see Saddler get sone more minutes this week and show how he can contribute, cos he will be needed more this week. Gee we have sone forwards out!

I've also been waiting to see how this kid fares. He has the attributes for potentially being a John McDonald like centre (Sea Eagles 1968-71, Australian test centre), tall, rangy, strong and fast or a Menzies like second rower especially when seen with Schuster. Still young and raw and certainly impressed in the juniors. Is he ready and can he cope with the move up? Will be interesting to watch if he's selected.

With the Trbojevic upbringing alongside his revered brothers, he has a lot to live up to, but also no doubt has learned much from growing up with them. Not expecting much at first like I did with Schuster. Just want to see if elements of his skill set show up in his first game and if he's ready.

Shaun lanes game plan last week, "Eyes up on Tommy Turbo and this is where the play will go" was how Parramatta were gunna shut down Manly should be our blueprint.....Use Ponga as your guide to the next play including switching both sides of the ruck, but far more deadly on that left side....Why will the plan work better this week ?
Ponga ain't Turbo .... though I hear Ponga is likely out due to a groin problem
Also these backrowers in Barnett and Fitzgibbon need to be shut down, as run hard tight lines that will catch us out if the defence is not willing, particularly near the line.

Why would Ponga risk aggravating his groin injury so close to origin. If I were coaching Queensland I'd want him sitting out his weekend. It is good for us but it will still be a tough game.

wise words there from the "NRL" "Physio" (once again tweeting a generic quote from a physiotherapy text book - he found that info under "Groin strain" in the index).

If Ben is ready to play NRL then why was he playing Jersey Flegg instead of NSW Cup earlier this year? Just seems a bit odd for a forward to jump directly to NRL from Flegg.

If he'll be playing as a centre, then that makes more sense.
