PRE-GAME DISCUSSION: Knights v Manly [Round 12, 2021]

So Knights may have Ponga and Best back.

I sometimes feel that it's always against Manly that other team's best players return, but I'm sure that's just looking at things through Maroon and white glasses.

It'll take some good man management to keep the team up this week (probably) so glad Des is in charge. Plus it looks like Tom wont let things slide. Becoming a real leader.
Haha! It does tend to happen - Taumalolo suspended this week, back for us after a one week freshen up!

On form we should be ok, what we need to watch is a possible let down after such an emotional win and week as well as a desperate Newcastle with two or their major players back, always a tough game and place to win, Manly 1-12 I think!!

Good side. Of course I would say that with Schuster at 5/8. Good to see Des take the risk. Also good to see Sirro back. He adds to the attacking strength of the side... as long as he passes the ball

For me, the difference between Tommy turbo and ponga is massive...
Tom lifts the players around him... With the space he creates the guys around him look like world beaters ..
And in defence, he's a brick wall that makes sure everyone knows where to be and what to do..

Ponga does NONE of this..
He's a good player, but knights mentality is "get the ball to ponga" and hope he does somthing himself... No-one else looks any better playing off him..
And when the chips are down and they are struggling, ponga bottles it... Gives up.. seen it countless times.. talented player when it's going his way, hands on hips, walking to tackles and putting in zero effort when the going gets tough.. don't rate the bloke at all apart from a few individual moments of brilliance about once or twice every 6 weeks

True but between Keppie, Lawton, and Suli, I'm sure there's 160min of edge forward play there (Keppie played 70m last week). Just think Siro on an edge is done and dusted
Siro has looked a shadow of his former self on the edge but that has been while the team has been going poorly. With improvements in the team as whole I think Siro can get back to his best. I definitely don't think Des will start Lawton ahead of him, unless his injury is not quite 100%.

Agree! I’d fit Siro starts with Lawton on the bench to play the same role he did against Parra.
Yeah,Lawton played well last week but the situation, both his and the clubs, inspired that performance.Second game back maybe a bit tougher and he isn’t really a back rower,it helped that he came on when many were gassed from a very quick game
