[Resurrected] Penn selling the club??

But but but .... the dribblers have been telling me that Penn is the only saviour in the world .... if Penn is not here then the world will end ....

(Thank goodness I never listen to the mindless babbling of the dribblers) ....

I don’t mind who buys them but I do care how Max will get treated by the new owners. And I hope they respect and acknowledge what he did for the club and at least invite him to something. Absolutely disgraceful how he has been treated over the last few years! Makes me feel sick to my stomach

As per my post above :nerd:

Club owner Scott Penn ends talk he wants to sell Manly Sea Eagles
May 19, 2019 7:26am
Dean RitchieThe Daily Telegraph

Manly’s majority owner Scott Penn wants to form a consortium to redevelop the Brookvale Oval precinct - but insists the club is not for sale.
The State Government should give their loyal electorates on the Northern Beaches the same consideration they gave to the Doesn'tmatta electorate who have had two new stadiums built whilst Brookie has been lucky to receive a lick of paint.

There is an office block at Barrangaroo built 100% out of wood.

Zali would sign off on a renewable northern stand if we asked nicely :lightbulb:

What Manly's potential new owners have in mind for the Bears

The North Sydney Bears won't be back, the Sea Eagles won't be leaving the northern beaches and Brookvale Oval will be turned into state-of-the-art stadium under a proposal put to Manly owner Scott Penn by a mystery consortium.

The Weekend Hangover can reveal the consortium has little rugby league DNA but is a big hitter overseas and sees great opportunity to buy into the NRL via the Sea Eagles.

Negotiations with the consortium and Penn have been going back and forward for months, with the deal on and off the table several times.

But every man has his price and Penn is on the verge of signing over control of the club for a figure in excess of $12m.

And despite the scare tactics, we can tell you the new consortium has no plans to move the Sea Eagles away from the peninsula and the deal completely shuts the poor old Bears out of the picture.

If anything, the potential new owners will put all their energy into redeveloping tired old Brookvale Oval with a view to housing the team their permanently with no change to name or colours.

They will also do away with playing home games away for financial gain.

Watch this space. It will blow you away when all is revealed.

Des Hasler calls on the cops at Shark Park

Funny scenes at halftime in the Cronulla-Manly match when Sea Eagles coach Des Hasler asked a policeman to remove Daily Telegraph league reporter Dean Ritchie from Shark Park.

"The coach has asked me to escort you out," the local cop told a stunned Bulldog.

Ritchie looked around to see a sniggering Hasler sneaking back into the coach's box.

We can report the Dog saw out the game.

I've always bemoaned the fact that there is not one decent arena on the north side of Sydney Harbour. They all are in the east or the west.
If Brookie is to be developed it must also be adaptable enough to stage music concerts, special events and large-scale business conferences.
So, if there is a 'consortium' out there prepared to put up the money to do this - helped by some Federal and State funding (which is the least they can do for us helping them retain power) - then I'm all for it.
Whether my beloved Hill will be retained is my only regret, but I'm prepared to sacrifice my wet posterior for the sake of the club and the community.

West side of Brookvale has now become medium density residential.

No council would permit loud music or cope with the traffic around Brookie :shake:

Unless the light industrial area around Pittwater Road east is converted, Brookie itself will remain as a sporting venue @

Exterior is CLT - like sandwiched ply wood.

What's classified as the West side of Brookie? Like Nth West of like Shackel Ave to Old Pitt Rd?

Old Pittwater Rd and every street off west side of Pittwater Rd is now all units

Residents would veto concerts just like the Moore Park mob stopped all concerts at the SCG

If 100+ year old pubs can be effectively shut down because of a new neighbour lodging a noise complaint, then how would Brookvale Oval be feasible as a newly minted concert venue?

I agree with your sentiment but it might not be feasible.

Give me the billion dollar Arabic consortium. Love for us to become the next Chelsea.

Brooky becomes the next State if the Art facility on their backs.

Hopefully Steggall can do what Abbott refused to do (and I heard that directly from the Arthurson's themselves), and get us some much more needed dollars, now that we are a marginal seat.
That would be Man City. Chelsea isn’t spending the huge dollars anymore like the top 3 or 4 in the EPL.

Then I guess the new state-of-the-art arena will have to be built at Pittwater Park.
And Brookie would become home to the frisbee throwers.

Our
Great club deserves a ground like Bankwest. I love brookvale but we need a modern stadium

I notice that the Parramatta electorate didn't reward the Libs for splashing $300-M of taxpayers money on that stadium.
Ungrateful swill!
(and yes, I know it was the State Liberals who paid for the stadium and not the Federal Government).

POTENTIAL MANLY BUYER REVEALED

I can reveal that the mystery company thinking of buying Manly from the Penn family is none other than the Sea Eagles’ major sponsor, URM, or United Resource Management.

One of Sydney’s biggest waste collectors, URM is headed by a couple of tragic Manly supporters who are more than happy to come up with the asking price of between $15 million and $20 million.

Owning an NRL club is not a profitable exercise but the pair are prepared to wear the loss for control of the club.

Former Sea Eagles coach Geoff Toovey recently joined the firm as an ambassador and will be involved in the bid.

But URM face some opposition in taking over the club - former owner Max Delmege is also keen to be involved again.
