NRL: Restarting May 28th. Grand Final Oct 25th

Wait a mo....

The Daily Telegraph reported that Addo-Carr was given formal warnings by police for breaching COVID-19 protocols on April 3 and April 14.

Both offences occurred in the Sydney suburb of Glebe when the rugby league star was sitting in a car without a valid excuse for being outside.

Addo-Carr was also warned over an unrelated driving offence on April 16.

Detectives are reportedly investigating Addo-Carr for allegedly firing a shotgun despite not holding a firearms licence.

Errr... I'm not sure if I'd get a warning from the po-po if I did any one of those things.
Police 'discretion' is certainly subjective.

Bring back the days where you just slipped them a 20 or so and everything was sweet!

IMO they have behaved irresponsibility and selfishly. Sadly these players have left the NRL & PV little choice but to suspend them, its really just a matter of how long. My view is that they should be put into isolation for 14 days and suspended for 4 matches at least. They must send a strong message to the rest of the playing group as this type of behavior could derail the proposed restart and cost the NRL millions in lost revenue.

@Manly Tragic imo four weeks is nowhere near enough.

If the greater general public decided that their mates/cousins/brothers weren't coping with isolation/society etc and didn't give a flying f$%K what we've been told to do for the last two months - that is stay the f$%k at home - then where would we be?
It's not like they just went a couple of suburbs away, they've travelled a few hours and then a few hours again.

If I'd been stood down from my job but my bosses are trying everything they can to get the business back up and running asap I'd be trying not to jeopardise that, not just for me but also my fellow workmates - especially when there are interstate and overseas workers involved in the business!

Yes, we've all probably pushed the envelope a bit during these times and are going a bit stir crazy that we can't just drop in somewhere or say g'day but really?
JAC had at least two move along notices in Sydney and was told to go back to Melbourne, that should have been enough, but no I'll thumb my nose at society, the state and federal governments, the police and my livelihood because I'm dumb/stupid/arrogant/ignorant and travel further away from home with people who aren't my immediate family.
Hell, I'll even put up photos on insta and and twitter, how cool is that?
What could possibly go wrong?

They'd better hope like hell that none of them test positive, how could they honestly trace where they've been and with whom they've potentially been in contact with?
That's the whole basis of us living like we're living at the moment - minimal contact or interaction.

Authorities have identified those demographics in society that are at a higher risk of infection and I think indigenous people are on that list for a reason.
They may have as well gone and partied with all their grandparents ( granted it wouldn't be as fun ).

I'm glad Meninga hasn't tried to defend them.

Put them out for the season on their 20% pay packet and they may just get the message that they are part of greater society.

Credit where it's due ... I thought Ennis made the most compelling comparison last night ... basically he made the point that only a few days earlier, Many diggers, hundreds of them very elderly had to give up possibly their one occassion a year to pay their respects to fallen mates and have a beer with any left ... they did this without complaint or any sense of entitement .. they got dressed with their medals and stood or sat at the end of their driveways ....

Fairfukkendinkum .... then to listen to the reasons these two gooses put forward to justify themselves ... and then play the race card ....

Greenburg is furiously writing a couple of character references no doubt.

Nathan has been photographed with 6 girls who all look kinda the same as one another, so maybe he can argue he was only with one type of other person, technically?

I'm not overly big on comparisons with those who have actually been there and sacrificed that but I've heard a few times recently (mainly in reference to 'merica) that:

Men and women fought overseas for four years to protect our freedoms... and y'all can't stay at home for four weeks?!?!?!?!

PS: Just saw the report re cleary and so the same punishment should fall. It may be easier for the nrl to do so now. "Just dropped in for a quick chat.... fmd yeah right!"

Anyone that thinks Latrell, JAC and Cleary are the only ones that will be caught has rocks in their head. If any player is even only marginally doing the wrong thing, people will be quite happy to take a snap of them on their phone.

I just hope our players are too scared of Dessy to do so!

Chalk another one up to the mindless entitled millenials who think they're bullet proof. Need a damn good depression to knock some sense into all those born after WW2. Wake up to yourselves you selfish bunch of fukwits. They'll scuttle the leagues plans quicker than the General Bellgrano.

Completely right but I am afraid I don't share your optimism about our players... Players caught flouting the laws only have themselves to blame...

While I am all for these guys being punished by the NRL, the problem I am having in my own mind is determining what a proportionate punishment looks like. I don't agree with the calls for a season long ban but a fine or a couple of weeks on the sideline doesn't really have the deterrent value.

One thing I am certain of is that I am sick of reading stories about Latrell that don't involve on-field matters. His supporters will say he is unfairly targeted; I say it's largely up to him.

Culture card, now we'll try the mental health card. I'm sure they've got a whole deck of cards to play with!
"Latrell Mitchell's mental health would be a massive concern if he was banned for the season over his camping trip, NRL great Sam Thaiday says."....FMD, thousands of people are losing their livelihood every day through no fault of their own. I wonder if Thaidays massive concern extends to them. Mitchell may not be able to play football for a season, hope he can handle the stress.
