I just can’t help but feel we will be playing the Roosters and the Storm again - ie play every other team once from this point on.
As long as the top eight finals "s format continues , should be able to negate any or even part anomalies with any revised or improvised draw . Would be very surprised if Manly for instance would play the Storm and the Roosters twice for this season in normal fixtures [ but maybe one of them could be a distinct possibility ]

Agreed Woodsie but we need to add all the other extraneous people the players WILL come into contact with, even under the measures you mention, such as:
trainers
medical staff
food supply people
cleaning and maintenance staff
etc
etc.
If they are being subject to the same isolation and testing then the numbers seem good.

Are the NSW based players going to be in isolation or only the interstate and Worriers teams? I don't recall seeing that.
If the NSW based teams are not in "lockdown" then that brings in a plethora of other people who will not be subject to the same quarantined environment.

I believe the risk level of a restart under the proposed strategy has a very low danger of infection but it is certainly not 100% solid.. nothing could be..

The NRL has just given the soon to come to Jesus Premier of QLD a 40 page outline of the plan ... it includes such items as players travelling on chartered safe flights ... driven to the ground in chartered safe buses .... straight back to the plane ... and straight home .... all support staff are also part of the rigid testing and isolation regimes .... the players then isolate at home under stricter conditions than the general public .. with heavy penalties for non compliance ...

Given the latest figures though ... it will be hard to maintain the case for state border closures to remain in place for much longer .... by the time the first ball is kicked I predict they will be gone ... and flights to NZ also cleared ... both countries are in the same position ....

There will be small outbreaks .. but these are expected and predicted ... the new strategy now that the necessary resources are in place and knowledge gained will be to send in crack teams to smother and isolate any hotspots quickly and effectively ...

Then again, something mght happen to any player like happened to me today when a homeless guy launched himself at me, shouting ""I've got the virus!" and coughed at me from six inches away.

Just WoW ... best wishes Budgie ... I was going to call for the punchie to get a flogging .... but it sounds like he has serious mental issues ....

Thanks Woodsie. Probably schizophrenia. I think most homeless people have been put up in hotels but I guess some are too disturbed to stay there.

I am hearing conflicting reports about the T-20 World cup going ahead ... do any of you cricket fans have any predictions ...

I would think that unless some guarantee of fans being allowed to attend .. it would put the brakes on it ... you would have to think ticket sales would be a big part of the financial success ??

IWith Australia's lack of herd immunity I can't see us opening up to Intrnational flights by early October ... which means some arrangement for pre testing and isolation like the NRL will have to be introduced ... and with countries such as Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, India etc ... I don't know how keen we will be to accept their word ... also will the players, such as the Indian stars accept the strict regime and time frame placed on them ? .. My personal view is that they will say it's all too hard and postpone ... but just guessing ...

... if it looks like being cancelled Nein will start screaming for a 50 week NRL comp ...

More hinting that the T-20 World cup may be postponed until Feb in today's Telecrap ....

Nein might start singing from the NRL psalm book shortly ...

From the DT:....Referees boss Bernard Sutton has had to get a job at Woolworths at Seven Hills while the NRL competition has been in lockdown. He works from 7pm to midnight unloading trucks. Sutton has a big family to look after – his wife and four children aged 9, 7, 4 and 1.

-Hasn't yet been seen if all of his brothers now get a gig, plus numerous other relations all with Bernard claiming no nepotism here!

PS: I guess he can't have a job where he deals with customers.

You're wrong! go away I'm a refereeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee wah

First the football and now this...

Yep, this is going to work...
"NRL superstars Latrell Mitchell and Josh Addo Carr have spent the weekend on a camping getaway, apparently disobeying strict COVID-19 social distancing rules.
On the day the NRL introduced new biosecurity measures at the 16 clubs, the Rabbitohs and Melbourne Storm players were on Mitchell’s farm near Taree with a group of 12 men."

Dear oh Dear.

"Everyone keep quiet so no one knows we're breaking the covid-10 isolation rules... oh and also smile for this pic I'm about to post on instagram!"

If people think that these two are the only two that have travelled, visited, had get togethers and basically ignored social distancing then they are kidding themselves.
They just probably shared too much information on social media.
League mentality and the culture of a large proportion of players has always had an untouchable element. Overpaid and too much spare time.
Not all league players are stupid (close) but not all.

Tip of the iceberg I’d say

Be VERY surprised if the T20 goes ahead as planned.

ScoMo was saying that exemptions may be possible for the T-20 players being allowed into the country .... what I think will kill it is when they tell Kholi he will have to isolate in a hotel for the 2 months he is here ... I think given the lifestyles some of these guys enjoy at home thay will say fukk it .... just delay it ...

Tip of the iceberg I’d say

I alluded to this last week.
JAC was in Sydney less than a fortnight ago socialising with others.
His reasoning for being in Sydney, not Melbourne was that he couldn't get home as the borders were closed!

I'm surprised that all players weren't under some sort of supervision by their clubs when teh NRL were pushing for a May 28 start knowing they'd need a few weeks of training etc prior.

No storm and no souths seems to be the only reasonable course of action.

This is highly, highly improper for any player (employee) or the nrl to jeopardise the start of the competition.

If in fact what inferred has actually happened.

Either way, no storm or souths for 2020 is fair.

And then ... the brains of the outfit said .... Let's put this photo on social media .. great idea they said ..

a group of people posing for the camera: Josh Addo-Carr (third from right) and Latrell Mitchell (fourth from right) pose during camping.

Im sure its been said already but anyway..
Lets be realistic here - this country was never in a full lockdown, so its not as if the NRL is taking these players out of the safety of their homes and exposing them to a high risk environment. I can guarantee you most/all of these players still get out and about - to the supermarket, for takeaway, to the park etc (as much of the community is) and are at greater risk of anything by doing this. Just bumped into Wade Graham at my local chicken shop yesterday, waiting in line alongside me and many others..
Put the measures in place and get the damn game started..
hopefully all opposition players are putting on a lot of weight

For me this is pete's true test

Both souths and storm should have very heavy sanctions and possibly have points deducted from then.

If this was us we would have ridiculed by the media by now.

If Souths and Storm get away scott free from this then nothing has changed at nrl hq since todds departure.

Why the clubs ... the players are the ones who should be hit ..

Also this is a police matter ,,,,
