So your saying there is no need for depth.
Oyff course we need depth - but the flip side of the current top 17 going well (early das) is we may lose a rare gem in Tom Wright.
If Kelly and Croker keep up there's no real need for Tom Wright, he is useful depth. I'm more than happy to keep Hastings as bench utility if he keeps coming on at hooker, also covers half obviously, and when croker came off for a period in that manly vs eels game we were well prepared
True, he's got something going for him although he has some serious flaws and consistency issues. I don't think it's us that need himWash your mouth out young Harold ... Tom Wright could be a cross between Cliffy, Blakey & Bozo (the immortal, not the other one)

Its an extreme example, but lets look at Thurston when he was starting out at the dogs. They chose Brent Sherwin and Braith Anasta over him. Wasn't that a masterstroke.

Who is he going to replace. I don't see any space for him in the near future (as long as Kelly/Croker continue to improve)
Possibly turbo at fullback during origin. Him or Hastings I’d hope.Who is he going to replace. I don't see any space for him in the near future (as long as Kelly/Croker continue to improve)

Personally reckon he's good depth at best for us. From what i've seen I'd take a safe, though capable and potentially destructive player in Croker, over that of one with unreliability through flaws such as inconsistency issues and attacking direction issues. Also, Uate has been fine imo, will improve his involvement as the season progresses (similar to last season)Harry, you dont leave someone with Tom Wright's talent lingering in reserves for long, whether others are performing well or not. One option is to take Uate's wing position. Uate wasnt his devastating self in the past few weeks and age may be getting to him. While Taufua has gone up a level, Uate has I believe stagnated.
I'm also still to be convinced about young Croker. Not suggesting he should be dropped and certainly needs at least half a dozen games to get into the role effectively, but what I saw of him in the Parra game was someone who handled the position professionally and looked to be fitting in well. But then Hastings came on and played hooker with Api at 5/8 and the two of them looked far more dangerous.
Thing is that in the end if a player in firsts is playing well but obviously only first grade level and you have someone in reserves bashing down the door, isnt it logical to give the reserve grader a try. You mentioned Tom Wright has some flaws. I would suggest we tend to judge him harder than others because of his obvious talent. Give me his flaws with that talent any day over a merely competent safe player
You have definately missed the kid in form - has a heap of natural ability and can play.I've only seen him play probably 6-8 games and he has either been a complete passenger or the worst on ground . He must have some good games with the wraps he gets but every time I've seen Cade Cust play his shone through as a class above.
It will sort itself out, if he is playing well enough TBaz will pick him, if not then he will be another player that never reached potential and there have been plenty of those
Completely different type of players. They could complement each other tremendously well moving forward. Let's be happy both wear the maroon and white.Ok so ive had a think and got the crystal ball out.
I know Jacko Hastings has a lot of fans here, and not to say hes a bad player, but if I was to choose I would say T Wright has more upside to him then Hastings has.
