this is a reply to a number of posts:
forums should be exactly that, forums. I thought this was a breakaway forum so people would not be censored as they do in the main site. People who build forums do it out of their own interest and to build a space for like minded people to have a chat, not as a 'myspace\" where the forum owner and friends run the show and \"visitors\" either put up with it or go away if they don't like it.
There's quite a history behind this site. It actually started as a forum. Thats all it was. Quite a few of us threw in the money to get it started because we all wanted exactly what you mentioned in you post.
"build a space for like minded people to have a chat"
We were sick an tired of the censorship on other sites. The team was going through a very tough period (early 2004) and although constructive, our general yarn about team affairs wasn't tolerated on other sites. It was join the conga line and walk in the same direction or don't come at all.
if we are tired of something, we should be able to let other forum users know, whether they know Head Admin or not.
Completely agree. Everybody on this forum is entitled to say whatever they like. You have the right to let somebody know that they are really starting to harp on the same crap over and over.
What I get frustrated with is these people who claim mata is whining on the same old rubbish... are actually whining on in exactly the same fashion. I think you'll find that when someone gives him a decent debate on the topic he brings up, you won't see it spread the way it does. Somebody come up with some decent talk about the issues instead of just resorting to the Broken Record phrases.
Mata, if the \" I'm asked to do what i do on this site\" means you have been asked to drum up conversation & controversy with your comments/threads to help keep the site interesting and \"cutting edge\", and your a type of puppet master, all good and well, but maybe people are tired of eating the same old biscuit?
I've been reading both sites for years, and the few times a week i visit here, i am generally eating the same 'ole biscuit.
You'll find that mata hasn't been specifically asked to drum up traffic. Although common sense would tell you it helps every little bit considering the site runs at a loss. His comment should have been taken as "there you go dan, job well done on increasing traffic this week" instead of being taken so literally.
Like I said earlier, the biggest problem with the
"same 'ole biscuit" is that nobody is willing to debate it. Everyone wants to have a crack that it keeps being said, someone try and prove him wrong. People are becoming annoyed with something they haven't even tried to discuss without slipping into the childish remarks by page 2.
We know your views, but the constant need for a win by posting a Monas or another target's poor stats on a given week: , AND the need for people to bother pasting the said player's stats from a good week attentioning Mata is crazy?
I'd like a supporters forum to get back to more interesting news and thoughts from people, instead of just bringing up poor performances in a \"I told you so - who is your daddy\" type manner.
Some people make Mata look like a world class angler.
Alright, let me have it.....:0)
Mate, if you want to see more interesting news and views, start making them. I'd hate to think your another who carry's on about how they want it but doesn't do anything to make it.
Like I said, this site is for everybody. Theres something in here that everyone can relate to. The more opinions, the more controversy the more posters makes for a better all round experience. To be honest, I don't want any less of mata's ramblings. We've known him for years and thats just how he is. I deep down don't want fluffy to stop defending king or ryan to stop coming up with a new team line up every 10 mins.
Thats what makes this site unique. So much rubbish, so many opinions in one place. I just wish people would see it and start adding the content they want to see instead of just whingeing that someone else hasn't done it.
