New Coaching Team

I like Flanagan as an assistant,he would be good there as a forwards/defense coach, but would not really like him as a head coach.
Even though he had success if you think Des was reluctant to promote youth...Flanagan had the oldest roster assembled at the Sharks and I may be wrong but I think he was with the Dragons when they acquired the likes of Mybe,Woods,McGuire,McCullough,Burgess etc...

I'm not sure we need Flanagan as part of the Seibold Dream team. I'm also not seeing what he brings to us in terms of potential recruitment either. (Apart from Kyle)

I can see what the club is trying to do, in bringing his name up as a serious option for the role though. Its essentially a clearing of the MWSE coaching decks, and the opportunity for a complete rebuild of the coaching staff, and ultimately the entire football department.

Bringing in a "proven and highly competent outsider" as the MWSE main assistant, will enable Seibold to move forward positively in his role. Seibold will be confident that he has the internal support, (that he never really had at the Broncos), to make the fundmental changes necessary.

I agree with @AndWeDon'tCare that Flanagan is not the best choice for this role. As attractive as the option might look at the moment (to some), the "optics" look pretty off to many others. I would prefer Ennis or similar.
No way Ennis is ditching his cosy Fox footy for an assistant at Manly, he'd be on good coin at Fox anyway.

LATEST: Just checked in with @SeaEagles … heard that Shane Flanagan has agreed to terms as assistant coach. Manly says this has not happened but admit they want him and soon - especially if Anthony Seibold honours his commitment to Eddie Jones in the World Cup @9NewsSyd

The sharks 2016 premiership winning team was not of an old roster

Sharks: 1. Ben Barba 2. Sosaia Feki 3. Jack Bird 4. Ricky Leutele 5. Valentine Holmes 6. James Maloney 7. Chad Townsend 8. Andrew Fifita 9. Michael Ennis 10. Matt Prior 11. Luke Lewis 12. Wade Graham 13. Paul Gallen. Interchange: 14. Gerard Beale 15. Chris Heighington 16. Sam Tagataese 17. Jayson Bukuya 18. Kurt Capewell 21. Joseph Paulo

At the Dragons he was not the recruiter .

Pretty sure those 5 have now left Saints or not been offered a contract.

There is nothing more exciting than the magic of a new beginning

Yeah, there were no veterans in that group....,I did not say he recruited them at the Dragons but I think he had a role in there etc ..if someone could be bothered checking.Just did it myself,he was the list management consultant and assistant coach.
Apologies Bozo,he was only hired this year at Dragons, you are correct.

Jim Dymock supposedly linked now:

Not as convinced with this one given he was dropped by the Titans midway through this year, but could potentially be a good influence for the Polynesians in the team
Of all the names being thrown around the last few weeks this is the one i hope doesn't come true, don't know why but i think he's a Dud as a coach.
