Members Council

I'm on the Council as well along with Wheelie and Mitch

Crikey! I should have read through the whole thread before posting individual congrats!

Too late, so congrats mate and well done and thanks for putting your time in.

So..... anyone not on the council?

Wheel & Mitch....
There is something that I’ve always thought was a no brainer in sports marketing.
How do we get the dads/Mums to bring the kids and then the kids want to come back again?

Merchandise, merchandise, merchandise...

1)
I’ve got NFI what % the club make from, say, a cap but if they could offer a “frequent fan” card that gave rewards per game attended then the kids would be wanting to go to the footy to get their card stamped or whatever - call it Sea Eagles $$ If you want to be saved up or redeemed at the Merch stand or outlet store.

I know there have been games that I’m keen to go to but paying the best part of $40 for the kids to pay half arsed attention/pester me for ice cream/want some chips that are cold/want my phone/whinge that some dick thinks we saved a spot for them and sits on top of us etc helps if they can see something tangible over the season.

They don’t get that just being on the Brookie Hill watching Manly is reward enough.

2)
Charge me $20 at the gate if you want but give me $10 back to redeem club stuff.
The kids don’t know or care how much it costs to go to the game but if they get $10 a game to spend they’ll ask me if I will take THEM to the footy and I’ll happily oblige with the wife’s blessing too most likely.

3)
If they can get a drink bottle, lunchbox, cap etc for attending “X “ amount of games they’ll want to keep coming back....and the more they come back the more I come back and the more money I spend on food/drink/merch etc and the more they’re “engaged”.

All similar ideas but..you asked!

Oh yeah, and educate the gorillas on the gate regarding what food we can bring in and what we can’t - I’ve seen way too many confused people getting told they can’t bring a packet of chips in. It doesn’t set the day off on an accomodating note.

....and

Hi @The Wheel congrats on joining the Members council. My biggest gripe is MWSEs lack of game membership options. For GA we only have a 3 game or 10 game option. Why not a 2, 4, 6, 8 etc game option membership like other rugby league clubs have?? For me 10 games is too many but 3 games is not enough.

I guess for those of us who were lucky enough to brought up on the hill at Brookie, it's hard to imagine young kids not loving it.
Then it comes clear. We didn't have smart phones/tablets or any other screen swipey things. It's all about instant entertainment for the kiddies these days. Not suggesting your own kids do this btw, it's just that working with them shows me it's a whole different childhood.
Maybe a Sea Eagles interactive app for kids (as part of membership) with reward points for attending games would be awesome for attracting kids. If I was technological enough I'd invent it.
Also on the chip front, if you take them out of the pack and put them in a plastic container you can bring them in. You can bring in wrapped sandwiches and home bakes to avoid line cues. Picnic on the hill and party on.😀

Firstly congrats to the guys who have joined the council. It is a great initiative from the club to engage the fans.

This year I am yet to become a member but typically buy myself and my son a 3 game pass as we tend to go to a few games. The piece that is missing for me is any sort of exclusive member only content.

I would be happy to pay a smaller membership fee (say 20 dollars) to get access to content and information if I am unable to make games – this would also be appealing for the out of towners etc

Keep the feedback coming I will summarize and provide what I discuss/present back here.

One thing that hasn’t really been covered is members events (except out of town).

This post reflects my position. For a decade I was a full member but with travel/holidays etc I could not get to all 10 matches so in the last two years I've taken out 3-game membership. It's good value, especially as I get all the merchandise of a 10-game membership. If I can attend more games towards the end of the season I can buy another 3-game membership and redouble the merchandise.
At the risk of robbing myself I'd suggest:
1. With a three-game membership you only gain entry, not the full merchandise
2. Introduce a six-game membership which has the full merchandise
PS: Cut out the lanyards in the merchandise offering; they are not appreciated. Put in more stickers.

They’ve tried hard to provide members only stuff in recent years ,releasing news earlier than the public gets it , but really it doesn’t work as the journos leak it or even us on Silvertails post something.

I really think “ members only” functions with players or the whole team attending are a real winner, and don’t “cheapen” them by selling tickets to non members.

I know they have the top tier “ Golden Wings” membership and they get lots of included stuff but perhaps @The Wheel thet should consider some functions for the reserved seat holders.

These don’t need to be a high cost operation, post match, very basic food options , drinks at their own expense.

The second thing I’d add is as far as membership inclusions go, all I need is a cap, and a sticker, I’ve never wanted or used any if the other stuff they send me.

Whilst cost isn’t an issue for me if this reduces the cost of memberships by $10 maybe it might attract more members at the lower end.

I suspect they outsource all the hired help on game day to the most competitive bid - which means you get the cheapest and generally least efficient / patron friendly result. Much like the food and drink staff too - I had one last weekend that struggled to comprehend an order for a bottle of lemonade. Just a sign of our wonderful economic times. It's not just Brookie, go to any sporting event and you'll find the same. You'd think that for the exorbitant prices they charge at these venues that you would at least get efficient, friendly and competent service - someone is making a killing, not sure who though.

Mark there is just so much possible information out there.

Hire an intern and get them to follow the junior teams around and feature a couple of players

Interview the phyiso each week on player rehab...

All no brainers which would add some actual value

Waa, waa waa.
Love the club, support the club, why does it need to be about what YOU get out of it.

Costs f*** all to be some sort of member and support the club.
Worst post ever.

Thanks Nicci, I'm up to speed with the bringing in food situation but I've seen so many others get held up at the gate with chips etc.
Where does "commercial packaging" stop and start?
Even though I don't agree with it, I understand the not bringing in Macca's, Kentucky Duck etc but packets of chips is being waaay overzealous - management/ticket sellers need clear cut guidelines in the T & C's to take away any ambiguity - half the security at the gate don't know either.
I was walking in with the kids last Sat night and I knew we had to scoff our KFC or throw it away before we walked in but I could stand there, tip it into a container or paper bag and chances are I would still get told that I couldn't bring it in!

Could I walk in with an unbranded plastic bag with a few containers of Chinese takeaway?
Technically yes, but I'd still get told I couldn't which doesn't make for a pleasant fan engagement experience.

A bit of an off track rant I know but...

Big Wheel, sorry to come in late on this - but could you mention that some of us (i.e. me) would love to see a smaller strip-style (like on the old Bradman Stand) scoreboard installed on the F-M. Showing the score and the time remaining.

You can’t always be standing/sitting where you can read the main scoreboard.

Kind of fits in with improving the game day experience and improving the ground to help keep Rube Goldberg at bay. Ta.🙂

Learn more?
If you learned more you wouldn't feel the need to insult someone for having an idea.
The whole point of the MC is to get the uncensored feedback from Manly Fans.@

Every Manly GF has at least 40k people in maroon and white, yet the Membership numbers never reach even half of that.@

It's a constructive initiative, lets hope that our membership is increased with many new happy Manly Warringahns :inlove:

Only way to improve a brand is by listening to the customer :euro:

True.
I did get lucky last week at the beer shed at the back of the hill, the poor girl had NFI.
A CC and a New is $17.30, she somehow added it up $15.30 pressed the button to give my change of a $20 and because it said $15.30 on the screen that's how much change she gave me.
Normally I'd point out her error but at the prices they charge I thought bugger it - the ice cream man got the benefit of her stuff up and the kids thought I was the best for letting them both get a double flake chop top with sprinkles!

Nothing quite like some anonymous wanker on a forum calling out other anonymous wankers on a forum.

I'm quite happy to be known as a wanker on these forums.
One thing I have never done, however, is judge others on their financial decisions to contribute to the club, or not, as the case may be.
I prefer to judge people on the words they type on here.
You have shown enough in the last few days for me to have an educated and considered opinion on your good self.
