Members Council

i have been lucky enough to have been selected to represent all members on the clubs members council.

First meeting is on 18/4/18 and focus will be on 2018 members events, membership inclusions and 2019 membership program.

I would be interested in getting some constructive feedback from both members and non members so I can take it directly to the club.

Therefore;

If you are not a member of the club why not and what could be done to make you join?

Are you getting value from your current membership? If not why not?

Would you like to see anything removed or added to the membership packages?

In terms of members events what type of events would you like to see the club implement?

Is there any other feedback you would like to pass onto the club about membership or any other general feedback??

Thanks all please provide below or PM directly if you would prefer.

Great stuff mate! I made it on as well. Really looking forward to providing plenty of input to the group and given we have a large pool of members within this forum as @The Wheel mentioned, any feedback that we can convey at the first meeting will be hugely valuable.

Congrats @The Wheel and @Mitch - couple of heavy hitters here on Silvertails, who would have thunk it

Hopefully you'll get some good feedback, at least this is a step in the right direction. God knows there are some bridges to mend there.

Excellent Mitch looking forward to meeting you at the meeting

Absolutely a good initial step when looking to bridge the gap between club and fan base, mate. I’ll be sure to provide some detailed updates following the first sitting.

Always a worry when a couple of the lads join Management ... first thing they will be carrying a pen in their top pocket, getting haircuts and cutting back on the sausage rolls .....

PPS Congratulations fellas

You only have to start worrying when the free bacon sammmwhiches go missing and ZTH isn't in the county to blame for the thus missing bacon sammmwhiches 🙂 🙂 🙂

Waa, waa waa.
Love the club, support the club, why does it need to be about what YOU get out of it.

Costs f*** all to be some sort of member and support the club.
Worst post ever.

In fact paying members subsidise non members like tax payers subsidise dole recipients.

I think this is constructive feedback.
Perhaps supporters like niccipops will see that supporting the club should not be about "what's in it for me" but actually about supporting the club.

There really is no reason that every true Manly supporter should not have at least "Born & Bred" membership.
The membership team have done a great job with a price point that is very reasonable. It's a small contribution to make to the club.
I expect you'll be signing up for the tipping comp or premium membership very shortly then 😉

Great to know you will be representing us @The Wheel and @Mitch.

This is lifted from the thread I started on Feb 15 : https://silvertails.net/threads/mwse-membership.53856/

Membership: As of this moment in time we are third last with 10,526. We are ahead of the Warriors and Titans and over 1,000 behind the Tigers. Sure we have had bad publicity and I have had Manly supporters raise that issue but I'm not sure that is their reason for not joining up.

Here is a link to membership numbers: http://leagueunlimited.com/news/31031-2018-nrl-club-membership-tracker/

I did my own little survey of those I knew living across NSW country that were Manly supporters. I could count 18 supporters with only one being a member.

Most are proud to talk about our club and it's previous and current players and success. But it is hard to encourage any of these to join up because they probably won't be going to a game this year, and the lowest membership price is what you can get the current polo for on eBay - $82.00.

I initially pondered suggesting in this post a lower entry point price for members depending on postcode (i.e. distance from Brookvale). Maybe just give them a car sticker, membership keyring, lanyard and card, emails etc, and discounted gear and tickets (because we do want to at least encourage more people through the gates as well) for say $39.95.

But then I noticed that some other clubs have general $40, $50 memberships.

Here is a $30 "Shark Starter" new members package (don't forget to also click on the Additional Member benefits). Link:
http://membership.sharks.com.au/package/supporterpackages/#sharksstarter

They have a $50 package for pre-existing members.

I don't want to do the club out of money and I am happy to continue on my current package, but if these packages were available I'm sure I could get at least a couple signed up and they can be upgraded later should their interest grow. And many have kids.

When the dust settles on the salary cap rubbish, we will have a young and, if all goes well with our 5 year plan (refer @Mark from Brisbane), a highly successful team with popular players. I think we need to have membership bubbling along on the ride up, not wait until after the next winning GF.

Maybe he should put his money where is month is cough up the coin in donating a couple of million $$$$ to the club to do as they like.

Me thinks given that @American Eagle is a 15 post hero he rather be the big man in his own fantasy world and slag off of a very decent member of the silvertails family @niccipops.

Well @American Eagle what do you know what people's commitments are and what they can or can't afford to do. Who are you to judge anyone by. Hold your head in shame :finger::finger::finger::finger:

How's me "donating" millions I don't have got anything to do with this "discussion"?
(anyway maybe it's better to ask madmax, he apparently earns 10 fold of what I could only dream of earning, and believe me i dream big so he must be minted)

niccipops wasn't saying he couldn't afford membership, he was using geographical distance as the reason he hasn't renewed for 3 years. Basically the reason was it's because he didn't get anything out of membership.
I was simply saying that was a load of BS. Supporting the club in a small way shouldn't be about what you get out of it.

So nope, won't be holding my head in shame, me and my 15 posts will happily remain in my fantasy world.
But thanks for your constructive feedback.

@niccipops congratulations, when did you have the sex change from she to he :clap:

If you learned more you wouldn't feel the need to insult someone for having an idea.

Congrats on getting on the council!

Fan engagement and club updates have been poor for a while, but it seems Gorman is addressing this issue, but like to see more improvement and an understanding of what is planned this year and beyond.

I question ticket pricing where it seems the stadiums are lower cost to attend than Brookie. An explanation of the disparity would be nice and how about them trying a discount day to see if that boosts the numbers. If it is a major factor in poor crowd numbers, it may be that better pricing increases crowd numbers and more than compensates for the lower ticket price revenue. Will definitely improve ancillary revenue. Someone had previously posted a very good analogy of a USA club (NFL?) trying this approach with outstanding results.

Agree.
I’m a GA member but took the kids last Sat night.
Stupidly bought their tickets online ( thinking that we would get a better crowd than the piss poor effort that we got) and paid the exorbitant handling fee from Ripoffmaster.
Why not make it cheaper at the gate for kids or free even.
