Yea I'm aware, props off contract next year do not excite me. There's a good bunch though for 2024 that we can still get early if we want, which is how I chose those names. You don't think someone like Luke Thompson wouldn't want an early release from that Bulldogs ****hole and come into a premiership window for next year with us. It's possible. There are good names though, way better than investing into loose heads like Lodge and Hetherington and thinking they're going to come good.
 
What's the silvertails vibe on trying to revive a career like Jordan Maclean, Herman Ese'Ese, Jarrod Wallace, Oregon Kafusi, Daniel Suluka-Fifita, Siosiua Taukeiiaho, James Tamou?

I‘m certainly not a Lodge fan. Thompson would be a good pick up, but he has on field discipline issues himself at times, his cost the dogs dearly a few times.
Spencer would be my pick from your list, but I can’t see him leaving the riff and I don’t think he can make the difference to our side, not on his own anyway.
I was just reading through the prop stats from last year and was pretty surprised with Marty’s numbers, not to sure what’s going on this year, I’ve read the excuses, but you’d think he’d at least be having a crack in order to secure a contract somewhere next year, pretty sure his time with us is over.
I hope we secure a couple of decent middles for next year, heaven knows we need them, if its Lodge then so be it, his numbers are good, but I watch every game and I can’t see him being good for us.

Would refrain from the older guys you've named but someone like Oregon Kafusi or Suluka-Fifita I believe could be an interesting task to revive and turn into a premier middle with our team. It's possible. But yea I'm aware those are the some of the props that are off contract next year which don't really get me excited which is why I reckon we look for someone in the stacked pool of off contract props 2024 and try get one of them and get them coming here a year early.
 
I'm also kind of nervous that Des messes up and actually ends up re-signing Marty. Like we are talking about getting a hypothetical prop to replace Marty because we getting rid of him and using his cash to work with in getting a promising middle. But with the way Des praises Marty sometimes, and because Marty is a good clubman I guess, I wouldn't be surprised if Des re-signs him which would be a massive blunder. We didn't expect Morgan Boyle to be re-signed last year.

There were more props listed as off-contract next year that I left out, like that big Pele bloke at the Sharks, and some other younger guys across other clubs too.
I agree, none of them really excite me based on recent form...

Times and Props are changing I guess.

Interesting possibility to consider, if Des made a move to retain Marty. I hope we look at youth and play the off-season gamble where players leave contracts for personal reasons and such.

If Des insisted on re-signing Marty however, I would hope it was for Boyle Money. He seems to of really lost his 'Kapow' this year. I get the feeling he doesn't love his footy anymore, similar to young Chanel Harris-Tevita at the Warriors.
 
is it too crazy to throw this out there:

What if we offload Marty to Wests mid-season, and HE is their announcement of a prop to join their ranks.
We use any surplus cash and the top 30 spot to back fill with Lodge?

Let's be clear - I am not saying this is what we should do..... but is that even possible? There are always some crazy pre-end of contract switches that occur.... does anyone think Marty could go THIS season?
