Manly v Roosters Rd 9 (pre game discussion)

I think Todd is coming to Sydney for Manly, not for family reasons although they could have something to do with it. If we can get Carney in the 6 for the second half of the season there is still hope. As much as he has been a dickhead he is a fine playmaker, a dally m winner. He has pulled his life around and if we can get him, he could help turn the team around.
Hmmm, so is Thurston ........apparently

So it seems its Jake that has the problem with Jacko. He is our spiritual leader and just about the only MANLY we have left. My thoughts are going all over the shop atm.

Jake is too young to be the heart of Manly. If it is true, what you say, then he has to learn he can't have his own way all the time, but that his time will come, and his decisions will be based on experiences that he has now.

That was a lot of commas.

Bye

Oh and by the way Jake, if you do nothing else, (win, lose, or draw), just ****ing put one into Maria Hargraves for leaving us !!!!!!

We are over for 2018, (thanks Twenty),so put some dickheads in their place boys!!!
I won't complain if Cwooper Cwonk cops a backhander from anyone either (hint hint Cherry).

A playful eye gouge would be nice…

I feel for DCE he is getting no help from TB , he can't do it all on his own.

This.

Barrett is in his 3rd year as coach. In two of them DCE has been lumped with 5/8's who have clearly not been what was needed to bring out the best in Cherry's attacking game.

Only Blake Green being here last year solved that problem (Killer did to a point in the back half of 2016, but even that wasn't ideal). And he's not at the club any more.

Personally I wouldn't be all that happy if I was DCE. He's desperate to get back into the Qld and Aussie sides, especially now that Cronk and Thurston are in representative retirement.....yet he is being hamstrung at club level by being forced to play a style of game to which he clearly is not suited.

I'm not saying that Hastings is THE answer, but it seems madness not to give him a run just because of some personality clashes, especially given the situation we are currently in. Regardless if some players like him and others don't, they are supposed to be professionals for crying out loud. Right now there seems to be a level of petulance within this squad.

When was the last time you saw him play? He’s been ordinary for the Northern Pride in the QCup and when he was not out injured the last few years in the Super League,he wasn’t playing much better then. Its been 8 yrs since that Dally M

Get on the Roosters to win 13+ and L. Mitchell to score first try as he will run over the top of Suli who is not fit for 1st grade. Walker at 5/8 will be a laughing stock, he has no long kicking game and can't set up his outside backs as he is more of a runner than play maker. I love this team but sometimes I just don't get Barrett. Whats going to be the excuse when we get done by 20 points again? DCE will turn up to the press conference and say "we just need to go back to training and work harder" Press repeat because its the same answer every week.
20 points?
and the rest!

None of us know the Hastings story so maybe Barrett can be cut some slack on that selection.

But if Suli gets pasted by Mitchell there is no excuse.NONE at all.Let’s hope he does not play like the log he looks like at the moment.

If he’s not 10kg too big my TV needs to be replaced.Kid can play obviously but 4 weeks training and playing reserve grade off a zero fitness base and you toss him up against a beast with pace like Mitchell in first grade. It’s crazy.

And right on cue a story running all day on Fox about Latrell not getting enough ball
No prizes for guessing who’ll be looking to involve himself this week.

Looks like Trent has largely adopted the Crazy Brave or He who dares Wins approach with selecting Walker at 6 and Suli against Mitchell . Prospects for any upside really quite unpredictable , the downside of course could be a bit of a concern .Maybe Walker with more ball and involvement and direct running can spark something more encouraging then past matches for the team but Suli will have to be a more threatening runner and focused defender to justify his inclusion . Hope also that they can fast track some important combinations by the weekend . Lane should be able to easily adjust to an edge back rower but with his present mindset picking this side , Barrett should really have also selected Tom Wright over Matt . The Better Robo forecast this unexpected selection choice of Walker and Suli last night and was certainly spot on but again my reaction if that eventuated , of course a choice out of left field . Barrett has thrown the dice with maybe a combination of hope and wish full thinking and if it pays dividends he will certainly be vindicated , if not , probably not very pleasant then .

Just seen the team list ....

Walker was trialed by Souths unsuccessfully at 5/8 back in 2015
Walker was trialed by Trent Barrett unsuccessfully at 5/8 in 2016

May 23rd 2016
Manly coach Trent Barrett conceded the former South Sydney star needed to move back to the centres to re-discover his love of the game.

Seriously ???

I hope we see a proactive approach from Trent Barrett to the final run on team .

There's got to be some genuine reason for Barrett to not select the best probable player for such an important position, so I have to respect his judgement on that.

I kind of thought may have gone for safety by putting Suli on the wing and moving Matt Wright to 5/8 but I guess he's just determined to do his own thing.
It should make for a week of interesting reading.
Matt Wright at 5/8 actually looked way better the Walker way back when. Now with NRL rejecting Suli playing unless manly sign him to a full time contract, may mean it's not off the table yet. Nor Tom Wright. Walker at 6 the smoke screen. It makes more sense then Walker being expected to steer a team around the park.

Well if anyone had an ounce of doubt about how bad our coach is then surely this has seen that evaporate. He is a grade A, rolled gold, numero uno GOOSE!!!
There is no “i” in team, but there are several in pig headed self indulgent stupidity. Please walk now Barrett, we can’t afford the payout if we sack you.

[QUOTE="double hoops, post: 1022306, member: 6486"Now with NRL rejecting Suli playing unless manly sign him to a full time contract.[/QUOTE]

The NRL didn't reject it, they ok'd it before he was named today. A FG upgrade clause in his contract with us was what stopped him being allowed to play FG under his development contract.

I'm amazed at the anti Setiment of Walker to 5/8 ?
Haven't we just lost 4 straight with Croker at 5/8 ? and against teams we should have beat ?
So that being the case where no chance against our next 4 opponents .
On a more positive outlook Dylan's ball playing ability will help our combinations which has been missing of late .
I fell sorry for what happened to JH ,but Last weeks BT result reflected badly on JH

This is just strange but it's TB decision and he will wear the consequences
Firstly he said last week he would not move API to weakened our nine position , great but haven't you just been hypocritical there in as TB has weakened our centers by moving walker to 6.

It did not work in 2016 so why try it again.

I feel for DCE he is getting no help from TB , he can't do it all on his own.

Finally if this was the dragons and TB was coaching and this was the same situation he faced he would have no hesitation bringing in Hastings , why because he cares and loves the red V like tooves loves manly.
It wouldn't surprise me if indeed it was at Dce insistence to bring Walker in at 5/8
