It's Friday night at Mackay. At least DCE will feel at home; he lived there.
When NRL.com confirms that it is Friday night, I will believe it to be true then.

Until then, they have the following:

They have left their options open by not specifying which Qualifying Final Loser and Elimination Final Winner for each game.

Just looking through some stat’s and found that our overall win rate against the storm is 35%, they are our second worst overall performance, (Believe it or not the goons are our worst result) both these sides basically own our ass and are the only 2 sides we don’t have a better than 50% win rate against. However the good news on the other hand is we dominate the ratio against the Rorters with 63% and they are our 3rd best kill after the Sharks at 71% followed by the Worriers @ 68%.

Just some interesting stat’s that may or may not mean much, as history is not the sole indicator moving forward, however the question is, psychologically could there be an underlying sleeper effect, impacting upon our performances against certain sides?

Its no secret the army can train an elite soldier to feel no pain and mentally prepare them to sacrifice their own life in extreme situations while staying focused on the task, they work on the mind, footballers are extremely physically fit and huge amounts of work goes into the body and physical side of the game, maybe investing some time on the mental side with an ex army specialist or mind conditioning expert would help build our mental capacity and be money well spent by the club. Just a thought, as we clearly didn’t comes to terms with the pressure or expectations on Friday night, youth aside, all our players could benefit with improved mental focus and determination, South’s displayed awesome application to their task last night, as did Melbourne against us on Friday, experience aside, if we can find that type of application to our game, we would improve dramatically, we have talent, sometimes we just lack application and dedication to the process.
I agree, I thought we did call someone in, not sure during 2007 through 2008 to focus on mental strength with the team. I could be mistaken but thought it was one of Des's mad scientists moments.
Would be a good idea for the team as a whole.

You have made some good points feathered friend

The thing is the Roosters premiership winning coach is also a hard task master like Des
and he will also have his players psychologically primed up to go in for the jugular and in for the Kill .

All things even the match will be won by coach who has the players that are made of the RIGHT STUFF

The RIGHT STUFF meaning the necessary qualities to overcome the pressure and prevail

They are waiting till the Roosters wake up this morning and asking them what day and time they would like next weekends game to be played.

Verrills will miss one game unless he can have it overturned at the judiciary.

Or if Uncle Nick pays enough money !!
After the Rorters carry on this season, particularly Robo with regard to protecting the players heads, the Mitchell incident, the judiciary will be stained with big question marks if they don’t stay the journey, Verrills can’t be saved this time, the Chooks should fight it regardless and should lose if the judiciary wants to maintain any credibility, just putting it out there to keep the bastards honest.

They fight it and lose means he misses next Fri and then Rd 1 2022.....

Not our problem, they should just take a dose of their own medicine and take the early plea, after all its how they wanted the game policed, whatever happens it will be a rort if Verrills is free to play.

A few things

We can all tell the NRL want easts vs south's preliminary final, ref will do everything in their power to make it happen, all 50/50 calls will go there way.

We just can't I repeat can't give them those opportunities.

Veriils if he is out and does not get charge downgraded is a huge out for them ..see us without Croker.

Finally its this.I know there is thread about this about if the boys and Des cant be motivated enough this weekend to redeem themselves from that embarrassment / cluster f$$k show of Friday night they never will.

Not saying we will win but if can't go out and leave everything we have got on the field on Friday night then we never will.

I really , really don’t know if our team can adapt to finals football.

Yes when they are on they are on and it’s a beautiful thing to watch BUT look back at nearly all our games and there are defensive lapses across the board, so can we adapt for the next game ??

Look at Souffs, they basically defended their way to a win last night without their strike weapon.

We defend for a few sets but then our middle crumbles.

Desire is one thing and I’m sure we’ll have it , execution is quite another.

I agree

Whatever happens this week I would bring in kite perry BK for the off season to teach the boys how to really defend your line.

Once we get our line defence aggressive and hunting as a pack like south's did last night then we will start to really become a threat.

Until then we won't be fighting with the big dogs yet of panthers storm or rabbits.

Wish we would play this week like south's did last night and defend our buts off and worry about that aspect of our game first.

I can't work out our defense... at times it is impenetrable, other times wet-tissue paper weak
We need the Parramatta game at Bankwest type of d on Friday night.

I think if we crumble on one of the very first few sets the roosters have on our goal line we just won't recover

Our defence will be the true indicator for me whether we are on or not on Friday night.
